Before people say it's due to age and obesity the data was modified for age and obesity. In addition pregnant women should be taking supplements.

Previous studies have shown in the UK, black women are 5 times as likely and Asian women 2 times as likely than white women to die from pregnancy complications.

Yes, the actual,numbers are (mercifully) very small, but the over-representation of the BAME community in hospitalised cases is supported by evidence, and is something that requires further investigation.

The course and deathrate of the pandemic in African and Asian countries will be an important source of evidence, and it is a great pity that British main stream media are so focussed on Europe and US

@scaevola if you see in the article there is a link to a study of maternal deaths in the UK. Black and Asian women are more likely to die and the figures have been adjusted for age and obesity. So I expect there is some racial prejudice in how pregant BAME women are treated.
