Loss of taste and smell

Has anyone who has had coronavirus experiened loss of taste and smell and if so how did it start?

I have had a sore throat and headache for 2 days and food is now tasting a little wierd. Did you suddendly lose your sense of taste or was it gradual? I have not had any fever or cough.

Yes. I had high temp and swollen neck glands first, then terrible breathlessness and air hunger. My sense of taste went weird a few days later - everything tasted of strong chemical/disinfectant or weirdly perfumed. I was taken to hospital on oxygen on day 13, by which time my taste had returned to normal. I’m now nearly 8 weeks since falling ill, and struggling to get strength back.
