Has anyone been asked to book a covid test by the zoe app?

I have been using the zoe covid app for the last few weeks and reporting zero symptoms. However in the last couple of days I developed a sore throat which I entered as a symptom. This morning the app invited me to apply for a covid test to inform their research.

I went onto the government site to book the test. The zoe instructions were just to ignore the key worker requirements which I did. However after entering my details the site said it would check I am eligible and send me a verification code. The zoe app said it does not share my details with the government so how does it know if I am eligible? I have not recieved any verification code. Has anyone sucessfully booked a test by this route?

I’ve done it. I didn’t get a verification code though. I ticked the bit where it said volunteer. I did put in my mobile number and I got a code for taking to the test site.

Fluffymulletstyle · 16/05/2020 09:22

Yes me Too, selected volunteer and did get a verification code through.

Thanks both. Tried it again and it worked this time. Feeling strangely excited. Was the process of taking the swab horrible? It looks like it needs to go a long way in.

Yes I went for my test on Thursday after logging some abdominal pain. Zero other symptoms!

I did the test in a London drive through and you had to do it yourself, I was happy about that as you could take your time. I was dreading the swabs but it was absolutely fine.

Hopefully will get results today - definitely expecting a negative.

Good luck!

I did it from the app too! The swab was fine. I went to the drive through testing place but they dropped the kit with instructions through the window and I had to do it myself. I got results two days later - negative.
Make sure to keep your windows up the whole time you’re there! They’ll talk to you by phone and give you the number when you’re there

Thanks for the feedback. I am getting the postal one but good to know the process of taking the swabs is fine.

Not sure if I want a positive or not. It would be good to get it out of the way with a mild case but my OH is worried already and isolating in his bedroom until I get the results. Don't know if he is being sensible or just relishing the idea of a weekend with no childcare and the opportunity to play computer games all weekend

I did. Drive through test centre run by the army. Had to self administer the test, they chucked a kit through the passenger window. I had no symptoms and, as expected, it was negative. If you go to a drive through and it's like mine they ask you to keep the windows shut and you speak to the person just next to your car by phone.

Yes, I did it yesterday. We went to a drive through operated by the army (!).

I would say, read the instructions carefully, it's fiddly. It made me gag a little but it was fine. Good luck! Nice to do our bit for science, I think.

MikeEhrmantraut · 16/05/2020 16:38

I went today. Ours is at the airport. It was bizarre but very well run. Results in the next 2-3 days apparently.

LandlockedBlues · 16/05/2020 16:41

I did. It was ultimately a waste of time though, as it took 12 days for the result to come and it was 'unclear', so I guess I didn't do the swab very well.

Snog · 16/05/2020 16:54

I did, the swab is v hard to do on yourself, the throat one makes you gag and the nose is painful. Mine was negative and results took 3 days. My swabbing technique might not have been good enough for a true result it's hard to say.

weepingwillow22 · 16/05/2020 19:41

How far did people insert the nose swab? I have been looking at videos on youtube and one said 2.5 cm and another 2 inches which seems a little scary.

I don't think I went far enough with the nose one in all honesty. The throat one I had a good go though and it gave me a huge coughing fit. Hoping that's enough to get a result.

Tamtam86 · 16/05/2020 20:28

I did, I had logged a headache for two days on the app and went for the test on Thursday, swabbed myself and the results came through today (negative)

Tamtam86 · 16/05/2020 20:42

I didn't insert the nose swab that far, just up against the inside wall buy it's was probably only 2cm inside rather than right to the back (it did come out with a tiny bit of blood on!)

I've been asked to go for one today. After 4 days of reporting ear ache. Booked for tomorrow. There were 1185 slots available.
