Am I frontline?

I'm interested as to what people's perceptions are.
I'm a community physio in a rehab service. My team is now rapid response / discharge support / admission avoidance. We're here to support the hospital to clear beds quickly so they have capacity. This includes patients with a COVID diagnosis, and still within the official infectious period.
So I think I'm frontline. But then I'm not sure if others would agree. Is frontline just the staff working on the wards with the acutely unwell?
What do people think?

I'm not sure I understand or make the distinction between frontline and not, as all you guys are 'frontline' to me.

Good job!

@Cornettoninja @Motorina @ToffeeYoghurt

Thank you. I have passed your kind comments onto her.

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 02:46

Its amazing the amount of customers who think that they don't need to social distance from supermarket staff!

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 02:52

Often the customers get too close to her in the aisle whilst she's restocking. On at least one occasion the supervisor has had to pull her out of an aisle to escape crowding customers who made her feel uncomfortable. She's only a teenager so not too confident yet in telling people to back off.

ToffeeYoghurt · 15/05/2020 03:12

Poor thing. Why people don't respect the staff is beyond me. It sounds like she has a supportive manager, which is good at least.

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 03:17

@toffeeyoghurt

I know, they have a manager and section leader and they are both supportive. She had to have someone escort her bringing out a pallet of soap last week as if she didn't everyone would have just crowded round her.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/05/2020 03:41

please tell your daughter from me that I'm core NHS, treating patients, and I have every respect for those working in supermarkets and care workers. Both groups are paid peanuts compared to me, don't get the professional respect I do, and are working just as hard with just as much risk.

Here here. Maintenance workers as well. Everyone who keeps the wheels turning.

Topseyt · 15/05/2020 03:56

I'd certainly say that you are frontline, and a great job you are doing too.

Has someone tried to tell you that you are not frontline?

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 05:46

@Motorina

I have sent you a message.

Lardlizard · 15/05/2020 06:04

I’d say so m, plus I’d include supermarket workers

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/05/2020 06:05

Yes definitely.

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 06:19

@thelockdownbellyisoutofcontrol

As you said you work in admission avoidance then yes I would think that that is frontline.

KnobChops · 15/05/2020 06:25

Yes but I prefer to call it shop floor, I don’t like all the military language used for healthcare.

Ellietotherescue7 · 15/05/2020 07:21

@knobchops
It does sound a bit nicer said like that.
