Tomorrow I’m going to book a hair appointment

For August.
Until then I’m not convinced about safety etc.
I’m very fortunate in that I have (had) a very short pixie cut but by August it will need a tidy up.
My last hair appointment was on 20th March, just before lockdown and even then my salon was social distancing and was washing every surface all the time. I have no worries that they won’t be a safe place to go to.
My only worry is for the staff, being an asthma sufferer I do cough a lot and I don’t want to be going anywhere where my presence makes anyone nervous.

When are you all going back to your hairdressers?

I will go back when it's safe to do so and they are open for business.

hollyhopscotch · 13/05/2020 00:07

I just don’t see how it can be safe for me any time soon (have underlying health problems).

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2020 00:08

While I can't wait to have a trim, I think it's only hair. There's probably other things that I am more keen to do TBH.

DramaAlpaca · 13/05/2020 00:08

My last appointment was 20th March too, I also have a longish pixie cut so I know how you feel.

My hairdresser in Ireland isn't due to reopen until 20th July (wahhh!) so I'm on their waiting list for when they reopen. I'll probably get seen in August.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/05/2020 00:08

I have an appointment booked for tomorrow (booked at my last one before lockdown)

I'm guessing it's not going ahead though weirdly they haven't contacted me Hmm

Cheesypea · 13/05/2020 00:09

How can you social distance in a salon when staff need to touch their customers?

toastedcrumpetsforme · 13/05/2020 00:12

I'll go back when they open. I trust that they won't open until it is safe to do so.

I've sent my normal salon a lighthearted message saying that I will be in need of a full-works, all day pamper by the time they reopen. I miss supporting the local business and hope they survive this (both in terms of health and economics).

MelanieFrontage · 13/05/2020 00:13

I’ve had two appointments booked that I should have had since lockdown and have had no contact about either of them, I’d just assumed that they wouldn’t take place.
The main reason that I’m going to book an appointment is as a statement that I’m supportive of my salon and want them to see that I’ll be back.
Also, I think that they will be overrun with calls in August and I’ll have got in early 😂

I really want a haircut, and a pedicure, and to go back to my acupuncturist. Damnit!

Sparklingbrook · 13/05/2020 00:29

If you are six feet tall or over you could get a pedicure surely? Grin Grin

toastedcrumpetsforme · 13/05/2020 00:39

I'll happily sit behind a perspective screen if it means I can have a pedicure. I'm thinking a cat-flap for feet perhaps?

toastedcrumpetsforme · 13/05/2020 00:39

*perspex, not perspective

My hairdresser comes to my house, and given she also works as a carer in a home that’s has 24 deaths I am sadly not in a rush to have her back in my house. It will need the pandemic to be much more under control

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 13/05/2020 00:41

A pedicure version of a glory hole?

toastedcrumpetsforme · 13/05/2020 00:48

@CloudsCanLookLikeSheep Exactly!

Not sure how they'd wax my eyebrows though 🤨
