We're opening schools but wales and Scotland aren't

So we intend to start reopening schools in June but wales and Scotland are staying closed until the new school year. Shouldn't we all be doing the same?

No idea but I for one am glad. Sooner my kids get back to school the better, this is awful for their wellbeing, especially my reception boy. It’s just not natural, even with online learning and exercising.

Nicola Sturgeon hasn't said for definite Scottish schools won't open till the new school year, just that lockdown will continue for the next 3 weeks & will continue to be reviewed.
She did at one point say it was 'unlikely' they would be back but things can change.

Wales also haven’t said they won’t be opening until September - just that they won’t be opening on June the 1st, doesn’t mean they won’t be opening on June the 10th or July the 1st

Scottish school holidays start soon, a good month or more earlier than England.

I do wonder what that'll mean for other childcare providers (nurseries etc) in Scotland/Wales.

England may not even open on June 1st...it all depends on R.

Realistically nothing is definite for any part of the UK at the moment, it's very much a case of 'might' start going back from 1st June, even for England.

This is a really important point that keeps being overlooked in comparisons. Where I am, schools were due to break up for summer this year on June 24th. The new school year is then due to start on August 13th.

Nicola Sturgeon has also said that p7s and some some High School kids may go back before the end of term. Nothing has been decided.
