Where did the VE Day street party poster come from.

It doesn’t appear to be endorsed by any organisation but it seems to be the thing that’s set these parties off. I presume no organisations will have endorsed it. So where is it from? Who made it?
I’m asking because I’m concerned about the huge lack of social distancing that happened at many (not all) of these parties yesterday.

Just dreamed up by someone on social media - there is no mention of on the "official" VE commemoration page or the royal British legion (RBL mentioned the door step sing, but not the parties etc)

I've been wondering the same. Not because I object as such, more because it intrigues me that someone somewhere thought, 'let's organise an entire afternoon and evening event that everyone else will feel obliged to join in with'.

But then, I'm unsociable!

Can someone reverse image search to see where it came from? I don't know how.

And yes it does matter.

Because lots of people believe yesterdays parties were an official event. Therefore,, encouraged.

Even on mn peolle were saying 'the invite says you can....' as though it was a permissions slip.

There's a possibility of rise in case in 2 -3 weeks. Because in a lot of areas people, apparently, didn't keep to SD. Especially after a few drinks.

I will bet anything people will blame the government, for this. Partially, because they believe it was something official.

Except it wasnt. If you took part yesterday and didn't socially distance, it was because your chose to. Personally, I am not against it really.

But people often forget it was their choice and it will be easier to blame the government.

I dont see it any different to going out on the front clapping every thurs night and let's face it large crowds are gathering outside hospitals and Westminster bridges showing no social distance at all.
Most people would probably have been out in the back garden anyway given how nice the weather was , what's the difference being out in the front garden and being sociable having chats to your neighbours. Speaking to another friendly face yesterday did my MH the world of good. If social distancing was maintained then it surely had to be a good thing for emotional and sociable well being.
The poster does not say all go in each others houses or gardens if people chose to do that then thats their own issue and probably the same people were already breaking lock down rules long before yesterday

@Greenkit they certainly did in my street it was an enjoyable afternoon spent chatting to those who I usually just nod and wave too

Interestingly I tried to find out the same, I was looking for something official to share with my street and that one kept coming up, it was shared by a neighbouring council to me but they weren't claiming it as their own.

I'm intrigued to know too.

They most definitley did not , social media is awash today with stories of huge parties and A & E admissions for drunken injuries.

Buffets and dancing here. Definitely no social distancing.

We stayed in the back.
