Children’s Vaccinations - Seeing a Dr.

DD is due to have some vaccinations next week.

The receptionist there will be a health check review with the Gp.
It was my understanding that a lot of Gps had cancelled these reviews but our surgery said it was still going ahead.

I’m not sure how I feel about it.

Obviously I wouldn’t want her to miss her vaccinations as these are important, but would I be unreasonable to not want her to see the Dr after?

The receptionist told me that they have very limited patients at the surgery and are only seeing people if it’s absolutely necessary and they also have a strict 1 person in the surgery rule, plus a separate entrance and exit.

But my concern is DD coming into contact with the Dr and nurses if she doesn’t absolutely need to.

I know these checks are important, but I’m really worried about putting her at risk.

Any advice?

The risk of dying to those under 19 is like 0.0005% (someone will come with the correct stats).

I advise you do not delay in having your child immunised against these deadly serious diseases.

My lg is 4months all immunisations so far done..

At my gp, they made me use gandcsanitiser and check my temp before letting me go ahead from front door.. they were all in PPE trust me, i dont even know what they all look like. Your baby is safe if this is your worry. Please do keep up on the immunisation x

OP is worried about the check with the Dr after; rather than the immunisations.

Personally I’d say, unless you’re worried for yourself, you should go ahead with it. Children are very VERY low risk.

Oh and just as you always do after grocery shop.. wash your hands when you reach home.. avoid touching yours or babys face till then. You should be fine :)

Ok not sure but i would assume the Dr will be in PPE and wouldnt risk in any way. If in doubt just call the surgery get reassured :)

Took my DS for his 8 week vaccinations recently where he also had a health check. Was all done very safely. Both nurse and doctor in PPE - the actual health check by dr was swift.

Hand sanitiser for me on entry and exit of the building and nurse held all doors open for me.

Nothing to worry about OP. Doctors surgeries are probably some of safest/cleanest places right now.
