I see a nurse 3 times a week for treatment. I very rarely see a 'white British nurse'.
All the medical professionals I see are aware of their risk and working anyway. It is glaringly obvious who and how is keeping the NHS afloat.

I seems clear it's likely to be due to vitamin d deficiency. So i would like to see nhs recommending vit d injection to all staff and strong supplements.
As presumably the ethnic origin countries are not necessarily being hit harder than EU countries.
Other countries incl scotland and ireland see the link and hav recommended taking supplements.
Also screening for hcp and uk population to see if more people have t2 diabetes and high bp

I'm black and work on the frontline. just feel like there is no one shouting our corner..

It could be the vitamin D thing...
Although the last time I took supplements my blood levels were toxic. So you do need to be careful with how much you take. With K2 is best for absorbability in the right places.

Yes I have. But at the end of the day we still have to work.
I've decided I might try and work in the community instead as I'm asthmatic too.

I don't know how to shout your corner @Cozytoesandtoast00 but if it helps, I think it's a disgrace and BAME frontline workers have been hung out to dry.

Have you been fit tested?

Do you find you catch a lot of colds generally (wondering if your high vit d has been helping you previously)

Me and the kids catch everything going. We burn easily and for school they have to have suntanlotion on every day. So i see how both ends of the scale end up with low vit d.

Pity you cant get tested to see if you already had it asymptomatically. In fact im sure it would be a huge relief to people to find if they had already had it.
Also it would possibly highlight infection control a some hospitals as if all staff have had it it may suggest it's getting around the hospital site

Some hospitals have started trials of in house anti -body testing. I’ve booked mine today.

I have been asking for guidance on risk assessments for BAME staff all week, I kept being told by HR that it was imminent.

This afternoon, just before a Bank Holiday weekend I was told it would come out this evening, I’ve just been phoned and told it won’t be agreed until Tuesday.

What do I do to keep these colleagues safe over the weekend and what do I tell them on Monday morning?

Surprise surprise! Great British public don’t mind foreigners when they’re on the front line. So glad me and my loved ones aren’t working in the NHS anymore.

Tbh 2/3 of my team are from Europe/India and my hospital is supportive. Really lovely CEO who fosters good behaviour/staff protection.
