You need a cool down period from your DH? Honestly, I think I may just lose my mind if I'm in the same house with him any longer. I can't cope. It's damaging. He's being absolutely awful.

Isn't there something that says you can visit someone you know to stay there for a cool off?

Yes, as long as the time is measured in ‘days rather than hours’

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 06/05/2020 18:53

Yes. If there is a risk of abuse you can visit relatives or a friend for a cooling off period

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 18:53

Yes, my understanding is you have to move in for a bit though. And social distance as best you can from them presumably.

Does anyone have a link at all? Just so I can show DH so he won't question it too much and will allow me to go without a fight Sad

I'm doing it so I can do my exams. Can't do it with 4 year old distracting me. Some exams are limited for a couple of hours then that's it, missed my chance to take it.

Could you go and have your 'outdoor exercise' for a few hours or are things worse than that for you? In any case, he cannot prevent you from leaving the house - that's when things start getting illegal. Are you in danger, do you think?

See link above. You don’t have to call it “domestic abuse” if that helps, you are allowed to go to cool off after an argument, in England at least.

Thank you Flowers

He wouldn't physically prevent me from leaving the house. But I think there will be hell to pay verbally and 'atmosphere' wise
