Are the NHS short of oxygen?

I rang my vets today to see if they had reinstated neutering services yet as some vets are offering it as long as the pet is picked up in the car park. The lady on the phone informed me that they are not offering any services involving anaesthetic as they are preserving their oxygen supplies for the NHS Confused. I thought the NHS wasn't at capacity? What about all the oxygen for the nightingale hospital that is sitting there empty?

No from what I understand they are not short however it's wise for it to be kept for NHS usage should it be required
