Slow covid-19 recovery in children?

I think everyone in our house has covid-19. The DCs had a mild fever and a cough.

DH and DS1 seem to have made a full recovery - DS1 stopped coughing within a week.

However I haven’t shaken it completely after 7 weeks, and I think DS2 (3 years old) is still suffering a bit. His cough has largely gone now but took over a month and he his still having days where he seems quite fatigued and gets out of breath quickly.

This is quite similar to me (having up and down days and get tired and short of breath). I’ve spoken to our GP and she’s prescribed DS2 an inhaler (which he hasn’t needed) but no other advice.

Just wondered if anyone else has had children showing lasting symptoms?

Honestly from those symptoms it sounds like he may have hay fever and that he is continuing to suffer from that rather than whatever virus the family had (which may or may not have been corona).

I know of a 7 yr old who had a fever for 12 days and is still quite tired. I think fever went about 2 weeks ago.

Short of being tested I am as certain as I can be that we have had covid-19. Large proportion of my team at work developed symptoms very consistent with covid-19 the first week of lockdown (we likely all caught it in the last couple of days in the office) and I think I brought it into the house as everyone else developed symptoms after me.

As I am suffering long lasting symptoms it seems very plausible that DS still has some symptoms too but I’ve not heard any other reports of this in children (or much about children’s symptoms at all for that matter)

I would think it would be the same as the fact some people get a wheeze after having a cough whilst most people don't.

My 4 year old started with symptoms 2 weeks before lockdown, very high temp and cough with shortness of breath.
Had to take her to the hospital then doctors as was getting no better
Doctor said without testing he was pretty sure she had covid and we was given a 4 page information leaflet on what to do if you had coronavirus.
She had a high temp for a week then went for a few days then came back for another week then went again for a bit then came back again.
For a month it was like this, but then it just went.
Her cough lingered on for a while more though.
She did get 2 lots of antibiotics as a precaution and a blue inhaler.
My then 5 year old and 10 year old had the same but there's didnt last as long.
My 4 year old had staff at her nursery a week before whom had a cough and lost voices, a couple had to take time of.
I do think children or adult's just take more time then others to get over illness and depending on the severity of it.

5th Vit D3 study from Belgium.

Males showed markedly higher percentage of vitamin D deficiency ..Vit D deficiency is a possible risk factor for severe infection in males. Vit D3 supplementation might be an inexpensive, accessible and safe mitigation for covid

If he is getting out of breath and fatigued then use the blue inhaler, does he have a 'pull' at his neck? And if that happens regularly (and by that I mean more than a few times a month) then let the GP know. It could be Covid-19, it could be viral induced wheeze, it could be hayfever or asthma.
