What are the implications of this. A friend of mine who works on ITU said there were a lot of bad pneumonia cases in her hospital over winter, and obviously the many people who think they had it earlier this year.

The problem is at one point they were testing people with symptoms and almost half were negative so unless we get reliable anti body testing we'll never know. Lots of similar bugs circulate in winter and while it may have been here earlier lots of people seem to assume they had it when in likely hood they didn't. More likely they didn't have it as there would have been very few cases that early even if it was here.
