As the title says really. Sit next to each other for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. One desk apart but less than 2 meters really.
I feel like I should isolate however work say I still have to go in Confused

Why is the person with corona at work?

ShambalaHambala · 04/05/2020 08:17

When was the last time you worked alongside them? I would absolutely be isolating if it was in the last few days and they tested positive shortly after.

ShambalaHambala · 04/05/2020 08:19

@shanghaidiva I'm guessing they aren't at work and OP is concerned as she recently sat next to this person for a prolonged period of time and they may have been contagious before showing symptoms.

ShanghaiDiva · 04/05/2020 08:20

Yes, you should self isolate and not go anywhere.

MyFirstMyLastMyEverythingBagel · 04/05/2020 08:20

Sorry to be clear they are not at work they are off.
Last worked next to them last week Thursday.
Friday for test.

Yes you should absolutely he self isolating. The desk should be feel cleaned any anyone else who has been in close proximity should do the same.

Pluckedpencil · 04/05/2020 08:34

You should be self isolating. Absolutely yes. I would take it a level higher.

Querlouse · 04/05/2020 08:38

Well, ideally you'd get tested.

Presumably your workplace is observing social distancing? If they are strictly observing this and have shut the communal areas and can provide sanitiser in all the loos with instructions to use it then it should be fine to work

Querlouse · 04/05/2020 08:39

Were they coughing? You shouldn't have been sharing anything anyway, and your workplace should be regularly cleaning door handles and desks.

GenderApostate19 · 04/05/2020 08:49

Well it looks like DH was infected by a colleague who came back to work after two weeks off sick with symptoms. He sat in a room with him for less than 10 minutes. I would err on the side of caution.

Thanks guys - unequivocally told I have to go in anyway Hmm

Not to happy about it!

Yes, I'd agree that you should be isolating.

This is why the app and contact tracing won’t work. Employers need to buy into this unless it is futile.

Applesandpears23 · 04/05/2020 10:11

If you go in please wear a mask. It will reduce the chance of you passing it on. Also register for a test.
