Where did you contract coronavirus from?

I am interested in where people contract coronavirus from and in particular whether it is possible to get it from children. If you have been infected please reply with the letter below that most closely corresponds to where you think you picked it up.

Before lockdown
A: pre lockdown from work or any other activity ouside the home
B: pre lockdown from a family member or friend aged over 18
C: pre lockdown from a family member or friend aged 11 to 17
D: pre lockdown from a family member or friend aged 0 to 10
E: pre lockdown but source unknown

During lockdown
F: during lockdown from work outside the home
G: during lockdown from shopping or exercise outside the home
H: during lockdown from household member aged over 18
I: during lockdown from household member aged 11 to 17
J: during lockdown from household member aged 0 to 10
K: during lockdown source unknown

Thanks for your help with this. Feel free to add any other comments in addition to the letter. I will tally all responses at the end.

A. I went to a huge funeral shortly before lockdown. There were 400 people there.

Casino218 · 03/05/2020 08:41

@IKEA888 I don't think so seeing as a burst colostomy would be a method of transmission and the virus was spreading rapidly in Italy at that time. Seems more odd that you can't make this connection but there you go!

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 03/05/2020 08:43

Probably B, but DH had it very mildly (not tested) otherwise D

FoolsAssassin · 03/05/2020 08:47

C if it turns out it was it. Through school after Italy ski trip returned and his teacher who had been in Venice , the following week DC was ill then 5 days later I was, then DH and the last member of household.

Mum didn't go anywhere from mid February as she was feeling rough from her SABR treatment. She went into hospital on the 29th March and passed away on the 31st from C-19. We have absolutely no idea how she contracted it as it was only her and dad in the house for the whole of March as she wasn't up to visitors pre-lockdown. Dad has remained symptom free throughout.

MRex · 03/05/2020 09:15

@FergusComeLately - of course she should have stayed home. Self isolation started in late February. So at the first cough, wouldn't you say "it sounds like you're unwell, you should go home" rather than sit there being coughed on "all day"? Instead her DH just thought "oh well, I'll just get ill then", or was totally unaware of covid, either case is pretty weird.

rookiemere · 03/05/2020 09:32

Mrex he had just started ( and thank goodness in retrospect) a new job, and the coughing lady was fairly senior. Plus back then, herd immunity hadn't been discounted so getting it out of the way seemed like a good idea.

PineappleDanish · 03/05/2020 09:32

My friend and her family were B - her DH probably A as he had it first. Suspects he got it at the beginning of March when he had a weekend in central London and went to a gig and a West End Show. Then came home and shared it with the rest of the family.

They all isolated and haven't passed it to anyone outside the immediate family.

TokyoSushi · 03/05/2020 09:34

I'm fairly certain that I caught it at Crufts.

annonymousse · 03/05/2020 12:08

F. I'm a community midwife and had visits with women who were suspected to have cv. Wore mask etc. I live alone so it was either work or supermarket and work seems more likely

Blerg · 03/05/2020 12:31

B from my DH who seems to have got it from work / cafe near work (London)

MozFan · 03/05/2020 13:16

E - pre lockdown but source unknown.
It was about a week before lockdown began.

I think it was from my partner who commutes by busy train everyday to a busy secondary school.
Or it could have been from my DS at his nursery.
We all developed symptoms within days of each other.

Yurona · 03/05/2020 13:23

If it was it - B. Either at work (where a terrible bug went round In February/early march and loads of people had terrible coughs, complete loss of taste and flu like systems), or from my husband (same thing went round at his work). In both places, loads of people were sick for 5-10 days.
If it wasn’t covid 19, it was an awful, very strange flu (my work offers the flu jab as well, and most people have it, so I tend towards Covid 19)

Meercatmama · 03/05/2020 13:39

From school -teacher Became ill 1 week before lockdown. Husband went down with it 14 days later. However did have a sore throat and cough which doctor said was not covid for nearly 2 weeks before. Now on day 49 and post viral but still not fully recovered

yearinyearout · 03/05/2020 13:42

I haven't had it but I know three people who have. One thinks they got it from shopping in the local city centre, one thinks her husband caught it at work (large factory environment) and the other from the Cheltenham festival. All were just prior to lockdown.

If we have
D or G
D-- Dd 4yo got ill with fever for a few days 1 vomit. Then runny nose. 1 week after half term. So she went back to nursery for a day (we hadnt been abroad and it said at nursery for people to not take them in if they had been and no cases locally). Then got a cough a few days later.
Around that time i had chills and dd7yo a sore throat. We stayed off school and nursery.
Dd4yo coughed for 5w until about 4w into lockdown
G--- Asda delivery to our door probably 1-2m away no coughing/sneezing.
But 5 days later - dp got a sore throat and within hours i had one too and the next day a cough. I felt very short of breath. But dd4 got a runny nose and more coughing and dd7 yo sore throat and coughing pretty badly.
Dh belives we caught whatever from dd but she got ill again and it would have been 28d for both of us so very unlikely. However if from delivery very concerning as it wasnt close contact it was outside and although the guy was likely breathing heavily still seems so unlikely, plus both me and dp infected!
