www.theguardian.com/law/2020/may/01/uk-government-faces-legal-challenge-coronavirus-lockdown-businessman-simon-dolan

Quote from the JustGiving page, which I'm definitely not going to link to::

"What we wish to achieve in bringing this case, is simply the freedom of individuals - the freedom to visit friends, freedom to earn a living, to socialise, in essence, the freedom of choice. That, of course, includes the freedom to stay inside - should you choose."

WTF?

What the JustGiving page artistically leaves out is that the person fronting the challenge is a multi-millionaire with his own nice bolthole in Mustique. And somehow he has managed to raise £37K for this nonsense.

Plus he was executive producer of an authorised bio David Icke movie

BreathlessCommotion · 02/05/2020 10:36

What he also misses is that if you are poor worker you cannot choose whether or not to work and put yourself at risk. If your employer is open you will be told to work or lose your job.

JudyCoolibar · 02/05/2020 10:37

It's pretty clear that the only freedom he's interested in is his freedom to make money.

He is a chancer with no respect for the British public.

"...the crowdfunding drive was an attempt to test British people’s “backbone” .... "

LastTrainEast · 02/05/2020 10:58

Well we can write him off as in it for himself, but I'll be interested to see how many people will be stupid enough to donate.

SouthWestmom · 02/05/2020 11:17

Actually I think it's interesting . If more information becomes public that would be great.

JudyCoolibar · 02/05/2020 11:19

1028 people have donated so far, LastTrainEast. Some of the comments going with donations radiate stupidity.

Ah yes I have the page up now. We even have Emma who thinks viruses are caused by 5G and Patrick who knows that COVID-19 was Bioengineered at Univ. of North Carolina.

This is a valid point “The lockdown is telling us to stop living to avoid dying,”. I feel like we’re getting towards a point of needing to put some value on quality not just quantity.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 02/05/2020 12:07

And they have until Thursday to reply... timing???

It's not fair, shouts the man who simultaneously doesn't believe it is as bad as we are being told whilst presumably getting some traction, money out of transporting PPE!!!

LastTrainEast · 02/05/2020 12:12

Nex18 We need volunteers to clean up after patients in hospitals. Can we count on you? I'm sure it would increase your quality of life and you'd even have priority access to supermarkets etc .

Some people would be afraid of catching it and dying horribly but that's hardly worth worrying about is it.

JudyCoolibar · 02/05/2020 12:16

Dolan lives in Monaco, so is hardly personally affected. Tax evasion, anyone?

Hairwizard · 02/05/2020 12:21

Oh ffs.

nex18 · 02/05/2020 12:28

@LastTrainEast I already work in the NHS, if I am redeployed to be a domestic, I would happily do so. I’m not currently on the redeployment register as my role is essential, colleagues have been stood down from redeployment at present. I’m not unaware of the impact of the virus but I am also not unaware of holistic wellbeing.

JudyCoolibar · 02/05/2020 18:45

Looking at the letter his solicitors sent (it's on their website) he seems to have launched the crowdfunder purely so that he could claim that there is a public interest in the action. I wonder how many of the contributors are bots?
