It has been playing on my mind that ever since the beginning when the pandemic was described as unprecedented, this is becoming more and more of a byline for companies doing shady shit.
From companies cutting staff to stabilise profits, reduction of civil liberties, increase of surveillance, abuse on the rise and many more examples which are probably happening - with the excuse of the 'unprecedented' situation.
I can understand some of them and begrudgingly go along with it, like app tracking, for the greater good etc however when does unprecedented become precedented?
A company pushing through unpopular policy changes that would never stand 3 months ago now has no issue even though the effects are abominably shit because 'unprecedented'.
Look at how much stick facial recognition cameras have had every step of the way, but if they said 'we've added a heat sensor monitor' I can bet they'd be on every corner by July because of the 'unprecedented situation and these changing uncertain wanky times we live in'.
It's unbelievable.
Sorry I just needed to rant.
