How long do you think?

I wonder what the first day will be.

Guess the vaccine will have an an affect.

@shamppandtea

It's today. Wow
Good news today.
XenoBitch · 01/06/2021 19:08

Zero reported today, but there is always a lag. There might have been actual deaths today that will show in the figures in the days to come.

Jasmine245 · 01/06/2021 19:33

I thought it was 30th July 2020

NothingIsWrong · 01/06/2021 19:45

It may be the day after a BH but we've had those before and never a zero, so it's definitely positive.

Bluntness100 · 01/06/2021 19:46

@zippyswife

3 months? I love the positivity but I think more like 3-5 years and only if there’s a vaccine and it doesn’t mutate.
Gosh and it was only about a month.
Snookie00 · 01/06/2021 20:02

Old and sick people die every day - half a million every year. As others have pointed out, thousands due of flu every year and we don’t get concerned about it. If they don’t die of covid it doesn’t mean that people stop dying.

BG2015 · 01/06/2021 20:07

Great day! I'm so happy we finally got to a day with no deaths. Let's hope we continue to have as fewer deaths as possible.

NannyAndJohn · 01/06/2021 20:14

Yes, we were doing well a month ago, well done us.

I take it everyone has seen the recent case trend?

Keep up the good work but don't rip the pants out of it !

UmbilicusProfundus · 01/06/2021 20:27

Welcome to the board @NannyAndJohn, always nice to see a new doom monger variant.

Yes 7 day trend is up, although seems reasonably steady, and cases are dropping in places like Bolton I read.

Anyway we shall see. I’m not overly confident, but then I don’t paint my opinion as inevitable fact.

I am concerned about the infinite % rise in deaths we might have tomorrow.

Ah, so it was at the beginning of this a year ago? Still not three to five years though.😃

Just as I was being positive today , I went on line and the daily Mail are reporting a case of bird flu in China. Only one man so far.
Let's hope it's contained ( can't do links)

This is why I don't go on the DM site. You can make yourself sick with worry. Yes, one case of bird flu, and also some random food causes cancer. Step away from the Daily Mail!

According to my low-tech, never updated, scruffy notes the dashboard reported 38 deaths on 30 July 2020.
UmbilicusProfundus · 01/06/2021 21:46

38 deaths was the stat from the old recording method (no 28 day limit from positive test). The stats have now been retrospectively adjusted so that now the figure for 30th July is 0. Technically this is the first day with 0 deaths reported on that day, but it’s a bit of a massage to get a good headline. Still great news though!

XenoBitch · 01/06/2021 21:50

More people died from cancer today, more died from suicide, and more died from road traffic accidents. I bet more died from TB too, which is highly transmissible just like Covid.

PrincessNutNuts · 01/06/2021 23:25

Zero covid is brilliant, huh?

Unfortunately our government has already muffed it up, and set off another wave.

Just like they did last summer when the 7 day average got this low.

So the zero covid celebrations will be short-lived.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 01/06/2021 23:46

👸🙄😱😴

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 01/06/2021 23:52

This is what hospitalisations are like for England. So I am not imagining we are in for a big up tick in deaths anytime soon.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 01/06/2021 23:56

1,910 hospitals in the United Kingdom

870 patients in hospital with covid at the last report on 27th May

And that number has been slightly falling still

NannyAndJohn · 02/06/2021 00:08

We need to wait a week or so to see if the current spike in cases has any effect on hospitalisations before we can make any conclusions about deaths.
TruelyStruttingHotpants · 02/06/2021 01:30

My point is just that really. So far hospitalisation are not badly effected. Therefore we do have to wait to see if that changes. However things are looking ok so far. Hotspots have started to level off mostly. Patients in hospital remain low. So unless that changes deaths should be the same.
