My car insurance is due. As a result of Coronavirus my husband wants to get 'Car Recovery ' for an extra £100.(Fair amount of money for us).We risk it usually and are aware we would have to pay about £250 (normal times) if the car needed towing back. Would you take out the insurance .When will garages re-open? Will they want to be doing recoveries ? Many thanks.

Not all garages are shut, and recovery firms are still working.

I assume you are taking about a breakdown cover add on and yes, I’d recommend such a thing to prevent getting stranded someone Covid or not.

You could probably get cheap breakdown cover elsewhere for less than £100. Shop around a bit. Having the addition of home start is really good but usually costs quite a bit more.
