Anyone awaiting a covid 19 test result? Or anyone had their result recently?

Just needing a bit of solidarity as the anxiety of waiting takes hold.

I had a sore throat Thursday evening and a headache Friday. By Friday night I had a bit of a tickle in my throat, and had occasionally coughed. By Saturday night it was clear that the cough was persistant. So first thing Sunday I tried to arrange a test through the new site for key workers. Useless. I could get all the way through the process, getting a verification code so I could go and select an available time and date but it would crash when you clicked confirm. So I rang my employer. Within an hour I'd been tested. Super efficiency!

Test takes 2-5 days to come back, although those colleagues who have had them done previously got their results on the 2nd morning. So for me, that is looking like tomorrow morning.

I live in a small house with 3 kids. It has been impossible to isolate here. I'm so stressed. I don't feel particularly ill, but I do have a persistant dry cough.

Anyone care to share their feelings through this process? Anyone else waiting for a result? Anyone got a negative result with symptoms? I just flail between thinking it will definitely be fine, to what if it isn't? I had over 30 contacts last Thursday alone. That is typical of a day for me at the moment when working. Three days in work last week, and three days the week before. That's around 180 people to have caught something from. Plus having to do food shopping. Sad

@ThisMustBeMyDream

Isle of Man. So British Isles but not UK.

Seems a sensible approach to me, and seems to be working as there seems to be evidence world wide of people testing negative but yet pretty clearly having the symptoms (which seem to be wider ranging than first though). Mine were mainly gastric and I tested positive several weeks ago

I just got my text. NEGATIVE. Phew!

However, as I've had mild symptoms for many weeks which just won't go away, I don't know if it's negative because I never had it or negative because I have gone past the time to get a positive result. Also, what on earth is wrong with me that's causing 6+ weeks of various symptoms.

I'm glad it's negative but without an antibody test I don't think I'll find out what has gone on.

@iheartkingthistle thanks for getting back to me but also glad to see your results are negative!!

Negative here. The dog will be so happy we can go for a walk

I had a test on day 8 after wheezy chest, tight chest, aches and pains in my back, slight cough and sore throat. A feeling of exhaustion. Left with burning pains in my chest/ lungs. Tested negative but I’m guessing that I was tested to late and the virus had gone by then. Too many symptoms for it to be something else. Never had burning lungs before.

Did you get tested due to symptoms?

If so I have to admit I find it madness that you would be allowed (or consider) going out and about again when there is a known failure rate in the tests.

I got tested due to a fever. No other symptoms.
Work are happy for me to back immediately so I don't see why I can't walk my dog if they are happy for me to nurse sick children.
