Coronavirus and anaemia

If you are anaemic and struggling with breathlessness, therefore, a lack of oxygen getting around the body does this mean that you’re more likely to suffer severe side effects if you catch Coronavirus?

I’m really hoping you will all reply to tell me I’m adding 2+2 and coming up with 5!

I haven't a clue but I would be interested in this too

I am in the same boat. I’ve been taking iron tablets for months & still not much better. I’ve also been trying to get fitter but it’s a vicious circle.

KinderWild · 27/04/2020 01:02

@mixitupalot have you looked at spatone? It brought my iron levels up nicely. The tablets never worked for me.

wonderrotunda · 27/04/2020 01:16

Don’t forget other vitamins too...particularly folate...a different type of anemia if iron doesn’t seem to help

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 27/04/2020 02:17

@Mixitupalot I’m sorry to hear that. I’m 34 weeks pregnant and got diagnosed this week. Have two weeks to get my levels up to ensure I’m not a high risk birth. My issue though is that the tablets make me sick, so I’m struggling to keep them in.

I assume you know that Vitamin C helps you absorb iron and calcium prevents your body from absorbing it?

I’m at home shielding anyway, but the Coronavirus question has been on my mind the last few days as I’m really struggling with the breathlessness, especially when I’ve walked up the stairs! I’m just wondering if I should continue to go for regular walks.

It's one of the unknowns.

Sorry looking at reports at different medical conditions and Covid-19 as I have various family members with them and there is nothing on a lot of them as Covid-19 is a new virus.

@Dingdongthewitchisbread you are not shielding if you go out for daily exercise. You cannot leave your property at all if you are in the shielding group.

Dingdongthewitchisbread · 27/04/2020 07:30

@BeforeIPutOnMyMakeup you’re right, I should’ve said isolating. I’m not going to supermarkets or anywhere else though, that’s the point I was trying to make.
