Sounds awful - sorry to hear that. Have you found out what the care home is doing to prevent spread? What ppe they are using and how your mum is being protected?

CuppaZa · 24/04/2020 23:19

Just awful. So sorry OP

Yeah they have everything they need. Have dropped off cakes and scrubs etc and they're all fine - it's just the emotional toll etc - the manager was in tears when I saw her this morning.Eek

Horrible situation. Half of coronavirus deaths are occurring in care homes, but government refuse to acknowledge this or deal with the crisis. Feel so sorry for care home residents and staff being left to face an epidemic without support

I know I feel like she is cannon fodder and being sent over the top so to speak. Terrified. The mother I love has already gone but I don't want this death for her. She should have an end that involves her loved ones holding her close..

If it's at all reassuring not a single care worker I know would allow a resident to be alone and frightened, even in the current circumstances.

We had a woman who needed testing last week. She has learning difficulties and mild dementia. She was terrified and clinging to me. At no point did it occur to me that I should tell her to stop hugging me. I sat with her until she calmed down and fell asleep. She tested negative, thankfully.

I'm sorry about your mum. Flowers

Have they tested your mum?

My Dad is in a care home where they have had the virus. He was unwell for a few weeks but he seems to have recovered so there is hope. He has Alzheimer's and the worst thing is not being able to visit him as we fear he will never remember us when we finally can go back.
