Proof of key worker letter

I have been given a proof of key worker letter. I'm wondering how genuine it is, or if I even am a key worker. To my mind I am not but the letter says I am. It didn't really matter until this new test availability for key workers has come up. We don't currently have symptoms but I'm interested to know if I would be eligible for the key worker tests as they are becoming available.
I work for a cleaning company that cleans offices, warehouses and other businesses. They have given me a letter from the Managing Director stating that it's proof of being a key worker and that I'm working for the 'national effort' Hmm
I'm just not sure that it's true lol.

No, the test is only if you are displaying symptoms.

At least at the moment

I was given a proof of keyworker letter a couple of weeks ago, and told to carry it with my photoID badge on the way to and from work to prove essential journey.

Yes I know it's only for symptoms. I mean are cleaners considered 'key' and is the letter actually meaningful in any way

Any company could issue their employees with a letter stating they are a key worker. It won’t necessarily be recognised as I'm sure every business who is still making employees work will claim they are key which is not always the case. Key to their company but not key to keeping the country moving.

Exactly my thoughts lol. I don't see my job on any key worker lists and I wouldn't expect it to be.

These Key worker letters seem quite pointless at times.
My husband is a Keyworker and his job is listed on the Gov list published, but my sister has also been given a ‘Key worker’ letter from her company despite her job not being listed by the Gov and being able to work from home with any issues.
