Mum in a home with CV - really sad

Mum's home has CV - a couple of cases and at least a few deaths. She has dementia and no idea what's going on. Spoke to her today and she was ok and symptom free, but so worried.
Can't do anything about it but it fucking sucks

Sending you a hand hold. It must be so difficult for you. Hopefully the home will keep you updated as to your mums progress. Try to remain positive the recovery rate is on the whole good. Nursing homes are now getting much more support than they were and processes to follow much clear. She will hopefully be well looked after:

Hi tactum,

I know exactly what you are going through. My mums nursing home had its first confirmed case 3 weeks ago there were 3 in her unit with it. 2 have passed on I think & one has gone to hospital (within the full home there has been 5 deaths & 16 with symptoms ). She along with the rest of the residents are now being kept in there rooms for the foreseeable so far she's not got any symptoms & the staff there are amazing keeping everything going while no visitors get in. I haven't seen her in 7 weeks since visiting was stopped she had a massive stroke in January and needs 24 hour care she is quite forgetful & confused & missing us & I worry if she gets it i won't see her again she's only 67. The home are very very good at keeping us informed so hopefully your mum's will be too. Take care

My Dad has alzheimer’s and in a home. They had some cases and they all had symptoms including him. When my mum said the GP had told her they would not take him to hospital and would just have to see how he got on I was petrified that that was the end. But..3 weeks later he is much better and the home have got through this. I know what a terrible worry it is for you but please know even older people can recover x
