Anybody acting as an NHS check in and chat volunteer?

I signed up to this but despite accruing almost 200 volunteering hours I haven’t be asked to do anything. I’m quite sure I must have missed a vital step. I’ve downloaded the GoodSam app but it seems very much geared towards people who are doing the active responding - picking up prescriptions etc - rather than check in and chat.

If you’re doing this could you let me how you received the list of numbers to call? A friend of a friend of a friend apparently has a list of 500 people.

Grateful for any information - thanks.

DD volunteered for all and hasn't been called on once, despite being permanently on call!

Thanks @cathyandclare (I was a Jackie reader too Smile). At least it’s not just me. Still can’t help feeling I’ve missed a crucial step in setting it up. If some people have lists of hundreds I’m thinking they must have been emailed rather than coming via the app.

I think, the friend of a friend is exagerating her role IMHO.😉
I read somewhere, that currently only about 1/3 of the volunteers who signed up were actually being utilised.
It's taken a while for the volunteering groups to get organised so, hopefully, from hereonin it should be better.

I think the volunteer "call to arms" for the NHS was partly government propaganda - there was never the ability to process and organise 100,000s of new volunteers.

Yes, it was a PR exercise.
