After May BH - allowed to visit relatives not showing symptoms / start going to their houses again

Early June - clothes shops, estate agents, hairdressers and coffee shops etc reopen but restricted and limited access probably for rest of 2020

September - people are permitted to travel / holiday within the UK but again limited social activities and distances

Early next year - pubs and bars reopen, possibly some abroad travel again

Next Summer - concerts and football matches begin again, large groups etc. Things overall start to get back to a "new normal" possibly certain rules will be in place permanently

... Of course it could be complete rubbish and I'm wrong about all of it!

Pubs and restaurants until Christmas would have a huge impact on the economy and businesses.

Who knows though after Whitty's comments today.

LuckyAmy1986 · 22/04/2020 23:20

I missed the briefing today. What were his comments?

Coronavirus: UK to have 'socially disruptive measures' until at least the end of the year news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-daily-deaths-in-uk-has-flattened-but-there-will-be-no-sudden-fall-away-in-cases-11977217

General medical appointments and screening revived?
Dentistry and GPs back to taking appointments?
Longer distance public transport (if the unions agree something)?
Any ideas on any of those? They're all kind of essential for my household.

As a small pub owner I truly hope we will not be closed for rest of year. We measured out for social distancing and could only have 12 people in at a time. I fear my business is over

Daybyday89 · 22/04/2020 23:54

I agree with you, OP. Although, I think restaurants may be allowed to open sooner but only let a few in at a time to allow for social distancing.

Really hoping you get through this @passthebubbly I strongly sympathise with small business owners right now, it’s an awful time for them.

Passthebubbly · 23/04/2020 00:00

Thank you @Daybyday89. Doesn’t help that our landlord huge successful company has taken all our grant and more for rent that we intended to use to pay our staff.
Sad times

Businesses like pubs restaurants are not compatible with social distancing measures☹️it's so hard to lose important parts of our culture like this☹️
surely they will have to prioritise things like getting dentists back to work otherwise we will have people dying of tooth abscesses😣

B1rdbra1n · 23/04/2020 00:23

Maybe some outdoor eateries could be open in the summer, or even if takeaways can still function that's something isn't it?

NeverYouMind123 · 23/04/2020 07:27

I think routine medical appointments will be beginning of June. They can't open hairdressers and not prioritise this!

One of the things about pubs is obviously people getting shit faced. Maybe they will be allowed to open sooner on the condition x amount of people can stand at the bar at one time or you're only allowed to go in groups of four or less no stag or hen parties etc. Or maybe there'll be a regulation to not serve people if they are drunk (and therefore can't be aware enough to socially distance). I really, really feel for people in this business at the minute. I agree if it does last until Christmas / new year many will fold by then.
