Will you be clapping for the Queen?

This clapping has got out of hand now, why on earth should we clap for the Queen?

I do respect her and thought her two broadcasts were spot on but am going to save my clapping for key workers.

Will you be clapping for the Queen?

No. I'll be at work. But it would be no anyway.

CoughKeepsOnComing · 17/04/2020 23:43

Freddie - it's really nice you want to show your appreciation. I'm just an old grump !!! And an old grump who would rather people showed their appreciation in a way that actually helped on the ground, rather than keeping my kids up which is only adding to my problems..

Holothane · 17/04/2020 23:43

No won’t bother everyone has birthdays why should we sing to her,

I’d be a grump if it woke my children up. Sorry.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/04/2020 23:53

Daft idea, what's the point of singing Happy Birthday from a doorstep? I mean, no ones got a sink, soap and towel there have they?ConfusedGrin

Mammyloveswine · 17/04/2020 23:54

Oh I think that's nice! Anything that unites us a country lifts morale in this awful times!

INeverSaidImNice · 17/04/2020 23:54

I respect her but no. I didn't even clap for the NHS. My support is via my exorbitant tax money and not wasting their time.

MajorIngram · 17/04/2020 23:57

@ErrolTheDragon very good Grin

AdoptedBumpkin · 17/04/2020 23:59

Nah, harmless enough but she would probably find it a bit embarrassing.

Viviennemary · 18/04/2020 00:00

Certainly not.

CoughKeepsOnComing · 18/04/2020 00:01

Ah, thanks Freddie! You sound lovely! (unlike me, who actually is a grump!!)

Devlesko · 18/04/2020 00:11

Will I fuck, nothing against her, but I wouldn't bow/ curtsey , neither.

Davros · 18/04/2020 00:26

9am? No way, much too early

Gingerkittykat · 18/04/2020 00:32

Whoops, I got the clapping wrong when it was meant to be singing.

Stacey, maybe we can have a MN singalong for your birthday!

greenlynx · 18/04/2020 00:40

No, why? What has she done to deserve that gratitude?

WellGoshDarnIt · 18/04/2020 00:43

Also my birthday on Tuesday . I'm going to be 46 - feel free to sing Happy Birthday to me if you prefer 😉

KatherineJaneway · 18/04/2020 00:43

I saw a message suggesting we chap for Captain Tom Moore on his birthday. It's all getting a bit much.

SpiritEssence · 18/04/2020 00:45

Nope

Mimishimi · 18/04/2020 01:31

No. This is Nazi crap

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 18/04/2020 08:28

Nope.

I did quite like the Royals and thought it was fine for us to pay them taxes as they bought tourism into the country. Then I found out the Queen is the worlds biggest landowner with 6.6 billion acres.
Maybe she could sell off some of those acres, to fund the NHS, I might sing if she did that.

TheFredericaQuartet · 18/04/2020 08:36

@INeverSaidImNice

What makes you think it is "exorbitant"?

PonderTweek · 18/04/2020 08:53

Lol of course not.

PicsInRed · 18/04/2020 08:58

Oh the fuck I will 🤣🤣🤣

Anyway, I have an enormous backlog of brave neighbourhood squirrels I need to clap for. Then all the hungry downtown pigeons. So brave. Such an inspiration in these uncertain times. 😥

homemadecommunistrussia · 18/04/2020 09:07

People have lost their minds. Everything on the news is overly sentimental bollocks. I find it depressing and am going to have to stop watching, which is ridiculous, the news should factual and not all this social media soppiness.

Derbygerbil · 18/04/2020 09:08

Slightly off topic, but if you’re referring to the Crown Estate, this is only under the Queen’s nominal control, much like the Government. She has private assets (such as Sandringham etc.) outside of the Crown Estate, and these are significant by any normal standard,
but she could no more sell off the Crown Estate than appoint whoever she desired as PM.
