To think Mat Hancocks facetious comments are not welcome when health care workers are dying every week! He needs to stop acting clever and do his job!

They put out a call for companies to make ventilators, have they done similar for PPE and asked UK-based manufacturers to produce it? I know in Italy Armani and Gucci among others have switched to making gowns and masks, for example.

It’s already happening. Barbour turned over part of their Sunderland factory to PPE - the announcement was made on April 9th.

I suspect it might be a drop in the ocean compared with the quantities needed, but it’s something.

Most NHS buying is done at trust or hospital level. So it's not surprising. It's only recently the government have made moved to centralise it.

Thing is this is a long game.

It was clear they were lying about nhs coping but drs are gagged.

I cant see how they think even more people will go out and risk it when at any moment nhs could down tools due to lack of ppe.
