Email from Blood donor service re: Corona virus

Has anyone else had this email? Can anyone scientifically minded shed light on what they are doing please?
Could this be a route towards a vaccine?

No, it's not about a vaccine. It's about antibodies and plasma containing them as treatment is it not?

It's called Convalescent Plasma Therapy and it will be used to treat people with Covid19 but it's not a vaccination

I heard a scientist talk about this on the radio this morning. He said they tried this during the Spanish flu outbreak and it had some success and this was before they really understood viruses and antibodies. He said it has potential but they will have to trial it carefully as sometimes In coronavirus the immune system has gone Into overdrive and attacks the lungs so this could make it worse . Fingers crossed that something is found to have a positive effect the world needs some good news!
