Where would we be if Labour were in charge?

I notice that the government are getting a lot of stick still from media and general public.

I think they have done a great job so far to be honest and I am not sure if any other government would have done anything better? I have really warmed to Boris, Rishi and I even thought Raab was good today. I have confidence in the science and the experts that they are using.

What does everyone think?

What would other governments have done differently in this situation? Where would we be if the last vote was different?

I think they're doing their best and probably no worse than a labour government would have done.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I've warmed to any of them. The fact they haven't completely fucked this up doesn't negate all the other horrific decisions they've made throughout their political careers. Boris is the same racist, sexist wankbadger he always was.

I think they would have introduced social distancing measures and the lockdown at the same time as other European countries. The tories were still experimenting with herd immunity and letting events like Cheltenham go ahead when other countries were closing schools and pubs.

I hope they would have taken advice from the scientific community. As such, I imagine their response would be very similar to the government's.

Although if Jeremy Corbyn was in charge, what I actually think would have happened is lots of dithering about.. As leader, he rarely seemed to make any decisive action. And I say that as someone who was gutted when the Tories won the election.

I think they have made some very bad decisions. Boris minimising the whole thing early on when the evidence was clear from other countries, continuing to shake hands etc. Herd immunity strategy, failing to learn lessons from other countries about testing and contact tracing. I also think so many of the speeches come across as totally stage managed and very mindful of pr. I’d have a lot more respect if they just said ‘sorry, we should have started organising testing capability much sooner. We are trying to sort it out now’, but instead it’s all bluster and sound bites with grand promises.

I do unexpectedly like Rishi though, he comes across as a real human and with a genuine confidence.

I don’t know whether it would have been different under a labour government. I do believe that with Corbyn there would have been less of the ego/pr factor and that appeals to me. There also would be less of the ‘Britain is the best at everything in the world’ propaganda which gives me the boak, so embarrassing.

I’m not sure how labour would have done. Maybe better, maybe worse but I don’t think this government have done a great job. How they have handled the PPE situation has been terrible. And the switching from this herd immunity to lock down wasn’t well handled or the reasoning explained clearly enough for the switch in approach.

It would have been identical. None of them would have known anything about the virus or any pandemic and would have taken exactly the same advice from exactly the same people.

I don't think it's been perfect. But also don't think Labour would have done better.

Depends on the leader. If TB. Then ok. If JC then disaster. If EM hmmm. If DM then good - the wrong brother chosen. IMO

Labour would have had a far harder time in the press and would have got more push back from the business sector.
