Is it possible to buy hand sanitiser anywhere?

I'm not using a lot of hand sanitiser - only when I get back to my car after the supermarket, but my current stock won't last forever. Is it possible to buy some more anywhere?

Raw materials are v expensive apparently; wouldn't be surprised if it's going free to nhs and double price to customers.

LegoBloodyHurts · 14/04/2020 20:07

Glad to see it back in stock.

Hopefully this will stop those arseholes selling it on eBay for a fortune now won’t be able to shift them Grin

I've been making my own. 3 parts 100% methylated spirits & 1 part glycerine. 400 mls works out at about £1.75.

animaginativeusername · 14/04/2020 20:30

Pharmacies are selling it, also Willkie but you need to ask for it.

animaginativeusername · 14/04/2020 20:32

Wilkos

NeverSurrender · 14/04/2020 22:34

My pharmacy has had plenty for sale in the counter each time I've been to pick up meds ( most weeks!)

Loads of Carex sanitising gel on display in my local superdrug today. The bigger bottles too.

doodleygirl · 15/04/2020 11:35

I bought a large bottle from Aldi

MichaelBoobins · 15/04/2020 11:41

I got some from an online chemist the other day

Yippity · 15/04/2020 11:41

I got some online at www.notino.co.uk

SamBee1 · 16/04/2020 14:51

@EileenAlanna - Methylated spirits can contain methanol, which is highly poisonous and can get absorbed through the skin.

It may contain methyl iso-butyl ketone or Bitrex instead, but methanol is frequently used (I think Boot's Surgical Spirit for example has it).

Please be really careful anyone attempting home production at this time. As someone mentioned above, the main ingredient in 70%+ hand sanitiser - isopropyl alcohol - has increased by up to 6x the normal price.

mollibu · 16/04/2020 14:58

Savers and Wilkos had lots and lots today Smile

Ginfordinner · 16/04/2020 15:02

I just wear washing up gloves in the supermarket and take them off when I get back to the car. I wash them in soap and water when I get home - and my hands of course.

Chemist direct have e-mailed me they has some in.

If it's out of stock - you can ask to be sent an e-mail when they have it again - though they seem to have some like one below still in stcok.

Not seen it in supermarkets and I’ve been looking.

Jarstastic · 17/04/2020 15:57

I got some from Wild Scents who have a really nice one that's 70% alcohol in stock - www.wildscents.co.uk - really like their candles too.

Annarosez · 17/04/2020 16:46

I think they're finally starting to get stock in supermarkets and some chemists- it was out of stock everywhere for ages.

There are also some medical supply stores online that have it too.

tinkerbellla · 01/05/2020 13:02

I bought some at Billyandbelle.com.

Bodie83Nahla · 01/05/2020 13:03

I got some in Tesco last week and Superdrug this week. I do think it's luck regarding if any are in stock.

ifonly4 · 01/05/2020 13:06

Boots (town centre) had a full supply when I was working last weekend.

AldiAisleOfCrap · 01/05/2020 13:11

@DavidnEva
We've been getting hand sanitisers from www.dewproducts.co.uk it's much better that most of the stuff you can get in the supermarkets, because it hasn't got any alcohol in it.
Then it won’t kill Covid 19 utterly pointless to buy it.
