Anyone's DC had chest tightness?

I am on day 25 and DS(11) on day 12. He just had soar throat but suddenly claims chest tightness and breathlessness in this evening. I got worsen around on my day 7-11, so I am a bit in panic now. Does anyone's DC has chest tightness? How did you cope with that?Is the chest tightness also common for children?

It seems that the symptoms are still mild but he has asthma, so I am scared.

My son who's 12 was 5 days behind me (neither of us tested but full house of symptoms.) He had slight chest tightness but no breathlessness. He has an underlying condition (though no asthma or other lung issues) so I had been worried about him, but he was fine.

If your son has asthma I would not hesitate to phone 111 or your gp if you are at all worried. All the best to you. It's a very worrying time.

I presume you've given his inhaler? If it's not helping then go through 111.

My DD reported chest tightness during the week after she stayed off from school (w/c 16th March) - we told her it was probably just feeling panicked - but I did wonder at the time. It lasted a few days, but was never serious, thank god.

DH developed flu symptoms on 23rd March - but never any of the cough/breathless symptoms - but he was very ill.

I have wondered if DD picked it up at school (there were confirmed cases linked to her school, which is in outer London, so quite a high risk area) been mostly asymptomatic, and passed it to DH. But I wonder why I never got it.

Thank you very much. Last night I couldn't sleep well. I went to DS's bedroom every one or two hours. In this morning, he still has chest tightness but seems to feel better. But I will monitor him because his asthma usually gets worse in the evening. We have an inhaler at home but I don't know if he can use it for coronavirus.

I tried online 111 but I will call 111 tonight if he has the same symptoms. I'm so scared... but thank you very much. I feel better to read your comments.

I suspect we caught the virus from his school because more than 10 children in his year group had symptoms and were absent on the last couple of days.

Yes mine did I think she the day after her cough started and it lasted a couple of days we did use an inhaler with it and it helped (I checked it was ok www.sciencealert.com/what-should-people-with-asthma-be-doing-in-the-coronavirus-pandemic

I made her sleep in with me to monitor her breathing and it was very slightly laboured I think for one or two nights but nothing too bad

She is fine now

Yes, my son had chest tightness and shortness of breath around day 9 for several days. He’s still unwell now on day 28, and has appeared to be on the mend several times before symptoms get worse again, although the more worrying shortness of breath and chest pains haven’t returned. The remaining symptoms now are mostly headache and tummy ache with some dizziness. I haven’t heard of any other children having symptoms for so long so it is worrying. The 2 boys in his class who had it (one was tested and positive) are better now. He’s normally very healthy and hasn’t been to the doctor’s since he was 4.
