I am looking for reassurance. I have severe anxiety and have just spent the night in hospital both in a&e and on a ward. I am now terrified I will have caught it. Or in the ambulance. Please help

Hi yes I work in a hospital. In covid ICU and pharmacy. No problems so far.

oldbagface · 14/04/2020 11:33

Can I ask how long you've worked there please flump and any other reassurance you can offer. Do you see a lot of mid 40 women who smoke and are asthmatic. I'm terrified

There's a thread at the moment about asthma and Covid. I'll see if I can link it.

Thanks. Do you have any other reassurance? I'm desperate

@oldbagface please try and calm yourself. It won't change anything if you get yourself in a panic. I have asthma too but have had no problems with this.
I've worked in covid ICU since it hit the UK so maybe a month. I haven't seen any patients aged under 50 in our ICU but I can't speak for any other units.
Were you in a covid ward? If not I don't see how your risk of catching it would be much higher than going to a supermarket.
No-one can say you definately won't get it however I would imagine you would have started to get symptoms by now if you were.
Perhaps put your nervous energy for good use and try and stop smoking while you are in lockdown. I knew this won't be easy but you'll feel so much better if you stop.

Thank you flump. I intend to quit. I have nicotine replacement coming tomorrow. I'm sorry I'm a pain. I'm so frightened. I don't know how soon to expect symptoms but I was only in there on Friday and Saturday
