I usually do a Sunday Roast but just don't have the ingredients or means to get them this year.we're having Quorn spag bol and garlic bread.

Bit sad. Really fancy a roast!

OP posts:
Longdistance · 12/04/2020 12:12

Paella with extra seafood.

coffeeandcreamer · 12/04/2020 12:15

I dug out a shoulder of lamb that had been in the freezer since November so I'm hoping I'm not going to food-poison the entire family.
That, Turkish style, with potatoes and spoon salad as I'm low on roast style veg

Katieweasel · 12/04/2020 12:19

Chilli! In this weather. Bad planning on my part but it's all I have in.

Carbosug · 12/04/2020 12:21

Haven't had to seek alternatives. Having roast chicken with potatoes, carrots and peas followed by pavlova.

foxessocks · 12/04/2020 12:26

We've been trying to only go to the supermarket once a fortnight and last time we went was now almost two weeks ago and whilst I did remember Easter eggs I forgot we might want a roast dinner! But it's all good, we've got sausages and leftover mash potatoes Grin the kids will have chips because there's not enough leftover mash so they'll be happy!

Roll on next food shop day!

Mascarponeandwine · 12/04/2020 12:26

Roast here. Had lovely Easter picky food the last two days, kids have loved it! All purchased last week on the weekly supermarket run, so no special trips out to source anything.

CoronaIsShit · 12/04/2020 12:28

Loads of lamb in my local Tesco on Friday night. Half price as well. Can’t not have a roast on Easter Sunday!

We’re having slow roasted leg of lamb with rosemary and garlic (veggie sausages for me!), roast potatoes and carrots, sautéed spring cabbage, runner beans and Yorkshire’s with red onion gravy. Raspberry pavlova for dessert. Massively looking forward to it.

Lucindainthesky · 12/04/2020 12:28

Roast gammon joint. Haven't got any potatoes so going to see what tinned potatoes roasted turn out like!

longearedbat · 12/04/2020 12:29

We've got roast pork. No shortages and few queues round here, although I shopped early last week to avoid any easter rush and froze the joint. Had I known the weather was going to be so nice we would have had a bbq, but never mind.

magicstar1 · 12/04/2020 12:35

We had a leg of lamb last week, so we’re having roast duck today, green beans, roast butternut squash, roast honey parsnips, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto, roast potatoes and gravy.

Clutterbugsmum · 12/04/2020 12:57

We having Lamb today because when I went shopping on Tuesday (1st time in about 3 weeks) they had them reduced down to £7 for a whole leg.

CeibaTree · 12/04/2020 13:06

We are doing chicken instead of lamb this year as we had a chicken in the freezer, and plenty of veg, so didn't see the point of going to a shop just for some lamb.

AliasGrape · 12/04/2020 13:17

We don’t normally make that big a deal if it anyway, might have had DH’s family round but would more likely have been a buffet type affair as there’s a mix of vegetarians, pescatarians and meat eaters, or gone to my brothers where it would have been a similar thing. Last year we were on holiday anyway.

Today we’ve had a huge cooked ‘breakfast’ but had it at about midday so that will keep us going till evening when it’s going to be something very light followed by a large chocolate egg each!

CoronaIsComing · 12/04/2020 13:39

We’re the opposite and are having roast lamb when we’d usually be out somewhere and probably go out for tea!

Charlottejade89 · 12/04/2020 13:44

Roast lamb, had no problem getting half a leg in aldi. Will serve with roast potatoes, mash, swede, carrots, parsnips, peas, stuffing and Yorkshire's. Managed to get the Easter eggs that the kids wanted as well. no shortages of anything really around here

Summersunandoranges · 12/04/2020 13:44

Lamb curry

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/04/2020 13:46

Chicken & chorizo paella. Don't really do roasts at Easter anyway.

ifonly4 · 12/04/2020 13:52

We're having ricotta and sweetcorn lasagne, which we'd have had anyway.

OP, if you fancy a roast, do you have any pototoes you could roast and just put on the side with whatever you have? Not quite a full roast meal, but roast potatoes will help!

YouJustDoYou · 12/04/2020 13:55

Husband forgot about Easter when he was out doing the shopping and got nothing. Subsequently, I've had to cobble together cabbage, one sausage, some sweetcorn, an old gratin thing I found in the bottom of the freezer, and two sausage rolls.

Drogonssmile · 12/04/2020 13:59

Just had roast beef. Need a sleep now. This was DH's.

Iamblossom · 12/04/2020 13:59

Lasagna

Roominmyhouse · 12/04/2020 13:59

Probably corned beef hash with fried eggs. We don’t really have roast dinners that often although I love them (bether when someone else cooks and washed up). Using bits up this week as got a box of fruit/veg, meat and bits coming from a fam shop on Saturday.

Sgtmajormummy · 12/04/2020 14:00

Easter lunch came mostly from the freezer this year.

Frozen: asparagus starter, puff pastry, spinach and green beans for Torta Pasqualina, peas, bread, gateau kept for special occasions.

Fresh: 1kg poussin, filled pasta, Parmesan, eggs, potatoes, carrots, ricotta.

Store cupboard: olive oil, roasting bag with spices, condiments.

Prosecco for a toast to the loved ones and the lost.

Dimosaur · 12/04/2020 14:02

Really. Fancy a lamb roast... But no ingredients, think we will go for sausage tomato pasta!
Exciting times.

lynsey91 · 12/04/2020 14:05

Me and DH are vegetarian. We are having home made mushroom pate starter and then home made cheesy lentil pie with roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, roast parsnips, mashed parsnips, carrots, buttered cabbage, peas, cauliflower and green beans
