Ocado smart pass trials, tribulations and tiers

Background

On March 23, Ocado divided anytime and midweek smartpass members into random groups for access then realised that didn't work so divided us again into most loyal, loyal and near to miscellaneous tiers with having different levels of frequency for order delivery and indeed how many slots you can book in advance.

Certainly the most loyal and probably generally high average spend compared to local populations are the only ones being treated well. They are allowed to still book every seven days, can book 2-3 weeks in advance and are encouraged to book several slots over this time.

The rest of us are being treated with varying levels or service, disappointingly some have not had a single email since March 23 and still don't have access.

Those anytime pass members on the extremely vulnerable list by NHS England should be able to book every 7 days though aren't given the ability to book 2-3 weeks in advance. A few are apparently being called for fortnightly orders.

Ocado has been too greedy. They blame poor service on helping the extremely vulnerable but actually they let too many new and infrequent shoppers place orders putting too much stress on the system.

Complaints on social media are typically met with cut and paste replies. Both the call centre and chat comms have been shut down.

Those with weekly Reserved slots have had their places cancelled. The technology failed, or maybe actually wasn't fit for purpose anyhow

Top tip is to try other companies including Morrisons who also deliver from warehouses.

If you are on a free trial did you actually pay anything?

@sparkinglime that's only for the extra slots released each day. The black line is not exactly cheery though

Our membership with Ocado ends In October. I'm going to sign up Morrisons after that. Their ethics have shone above and beyond Ocado and they've done much more for the community.

Still can’t book a slot but did get sent a £15 voucher for the inconvenience of having my reserved orders cancelled which is nice... now to wait until I can use it...

About time they did something for existing customers @sofia. Good news. I bet a lot of customers have complained or cancelled.

I'm not seeing a queueing screen these days - always straight through to the shop. And could have edited my next order a million times. But apart from that one order I am clearly dead to them - presumably until the day of delivery, when I might see something other than Ocado Grey.

My concern now is that when I do get my next order on Friday over 2 weeks since my last, will there actually be any slots available or will they all have been taken by people that have been allowed to book weekly still so many weeks in advance.

I just want my normal smart pass weekly slot, and know that I will actually get it every week so that I can actually plan like some others are being able to do.

My order is coming today, nothing missing and just 4 acceptable subs

Before I got out of bed I logged on and was able to book another weekly delivery for the 9th May. All slots were available to me for that day.

I have been able to book 3 slots in advance for my vulnerable parents using my account which have been a loyal customer for 10 years. I know Ocado haven’t been perfect but the weight it’s lifted off trying to shield my parents has been huge. A few missing items and substitutions but totally fine.

My delivery is coming today.

Out of a £350 order there are 7 substitutes and 1 missing item. The substitutions include Rice Krispies instead of cornflakes and butter beans instead of cannellini beans. Not too bad considering.

My husband was flabbergasted that there were no cornflakes. I don't think he's every contemplated a world without cornflakes.

My order has wine, beer, and biscuits missing! That's my Saturday evening ruined Grin Not been able to get any biscuits from Ocado for weeks now- everything else is there or a reasonable substitute. Not bad to say I ordered £250s worth of stuff!

Some items in my delivery have in red ‘no more stock available’ under them. I swap out these items for something else in the hope there’s more chance of me getting the item delivered. Seems to be working so far

FreakStar that’s terrible. How can they not have sent any sort of substitute

I’ve had this but I think you just can’t add more of it, what you’ve already ordered is fine as far as I can tell.

I’ve had no problem getting biscuits. Some lines were sold out but there were plenty others to choose from.
My order for my parents, which comes from a different distribution centre had beer.
Wine seems to be in short supply but my local independent wine shop is delivering locally so I’m supporting them!

Delivery this morning. No hand gels and my longlife milk was substituted for a brand I don't like and goes off quick. Naturally forgot to mention not wanting the sub when the delivery arrived and the driver didn't mention it either, annoyingly. Going to try and get a refund.

Rest of my order is dull so expected it would all be in stock.

Now back to watching to when the slots for the 10th will be released..

Ive got 3 in advance 7 day orders booked.
£2.99
Anytime Smart pass . Been with them from the start.
Hardly any substitutions.
Morrisons and Iceland food is garbage I wouldnt swap if it was free.

2 of the things in my last order had this, but I left them in (didn’t want any alternatives) & they still arrived. It seems they’re just saying you can’t add more to your existing delivery.

Incredibly accurate stock control (within their control, ie suppliers fulfil when they say) is one of Ocado’s USPs for me - only possible because of being warehouse only.

I notice Morrison’s have just switched to picking out of store so - assuming they shared all Ocado’s systems before - they’ll lose that.

Saying that I do need to edit the order I placed for the 9th first thing this morning, it’s only got 2 bottles of Jack Daniels in it!

Has anyone noticed that the Ocado magazine is no longer free? Why on earth would I pay for what is basically glossy advertising? Confused
