Just got it on a Sky News alert

OP posts:

I can just imagine him clapping very vigorously for the NHS next Thursday, wearing a union jack dressing gown and with Carrie by his side.

I hope, and trust, that this whole experience will leave him with an abiding appreciation of the institution.

Hello, we're posting with a reminder that it's a scary time for everyone, and we know that it's easy to type something out and not really think about it, but can we bear in mind that we are all human - no matter how flawed?

We will not allow posts that appear to take delight in the situation being discussed or in someone being unwell. It's simply not what Mumsnet is about, and we think we're better than that. Nor will any personal attack be left to stand, regardless of the context behind it.

Please do re-read the guidelines, because if we keep having to make deletions, then this could result in a suspension. Or the thread could be lost in its entirety (if it starts to look too much like swiss cheese).

Rather than responding to a post that is causing you upset, please REPORT it to us. That's what we're here for! We can do the clearing up, otherwise it ends up as one big mess.

So to summarise...

Please follow the talk guidelines. Please use the report button and perhaps, most importantly, please remember that what we could all do with right now, is a little bit of peace and love. Flowers

This is excellent news. I am so so pleased to here. I look forward to him going home (to Downing Street?), sending out a chirpy thumbs up picture and then having a decent rest/recovery.

I hope the tale of Boris will do this country a lot of good:
The virus is horrible and anyone can be seriously ill with it.
Going to hospital and ICU doesn’t mean you will die- there is hope.
Politicians, including Boris- the NHS is very important and those who work for it need a pay rise.

Snowflakes1122 · 09/04/2020 20:51

Very pleased to hear this. Was really concerned, but looks like things will be ok for him. His poor pregnant fiancé must have been distraught.

One can only hope he leaves hospital shortly with a new found appreciation of our wonderful nhs-you don’t realise how much you value it until you are in a vulnerable position like that.

BasicIntentions · 09/04/2020 20:59

Get well Boris.
Well done NHS.
👍

OurChristmasMiracle · 09/04/2020 21:05

Glad to hear he is recovering well. Hopefully he will have seen what an amazing job the NHS does and want to give some pay rises (hopeful but doubtful)

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/04/2020 21:15

I’m delighted! I’ve just read an article discussing it and my god the two pictures they showed of him before he was admitted made me freeze. It’s so obvious just how ill he was, crazy that he was allowed to continue to self isolate without medical attention.

He’s a very very lucky man. One more night without treatment would have potentially tipped him into ventilator territory. Terrifying.

Growingboys · 09/04/2020 21:17

Such great news. Get well soon Boris!

PerkingFaintly · 09/04/2020 21:19

Ah this is good news.

Easilyanxious · 09/04/2020 21:27

Good news let's hope he rests up and doesn't try to rush back too soon

Holothane · 09/04/2020 21:31

Well I’m pleased nice to see a success story about this.

Silvercatowner · 09/04/2020 21:38

He's been taken to a ward. Do you think he's actually on a ward with lots of other patients? Fancy waking up in a bed next to his...

HappyHammy · 09/04/2020 21:50

He might be on a small open ward. He might be in a sideroom. Wherever he is he will be safe and well cared for like everyone else. Wherever he is I wish him well.

Zogsbigsister · 09/04/2020 22:00

I’m really pleased he’s on the mend. I know the conservatives are awful but he just looked so vulnerable last week clapping. It’s great he’s recovering.

CheesyHousePlant · 09/04/2020 22:29

Good news indeed. I hope he rests properly before coming back to work.

Snozzlemaid · 09/04/2020 22:33

I was so glad to hear this. We need a good positive story like this of someone going into ICU and surviving.

bumblingbovine49 · 09/04/2020 22:38

That is fantastic news. I was quite worried about him for a while and kept.finding myself saying ' I really hope Boris doesn't die' to DH at random times over he last couple of days .
I can now go back to loathing him.

KeepWashingThoseHands · 09/04/2020 22:41

@slipperywhensparticus

Look it's all politics until someone ends up in hospital then we call a ceasefire*

Grin** made me giggle

Katie2017 · 09/04/2020 22:43

Ah that's promising news. Probably not out of the woods yet as I've heard it can come in waves and one day you can feel better, the next day worse again-not to dampen the mood of the thread! It is good news for now, really relieved to hear this Smile

samandpoppysmummy · 09/04/2020 22:56

I'm so pleased to read this news, I have been really worried about him. I hope he takes his time to recover fully before going back to work now 😊

Tangledyarn · 10/04/2020 00:26

@justanotherneighinparadise He was receiving medical attention at home and being closely monitored. It's very typical of the illness to take a dip around day 8-12 as that is when most people (if it's going to happen) begin to experience more significant issues like breathing difficulties and are more likely at that point to be admitted to hospital. But yes he should have taken some time off work!
