I can't afford to buy them new. Although the bookshop is closed anyway.
I don't have a kindle or a laptop.
I'm lost without a book!!!!

My library has ebooks and audiobooks that you can borrow with your library card. You don't need a laptop or Kindle, just some sort of phone or tablet that you can download the library app onto.

Buy from secondhand sellers on Amazon or eBay?

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/04/2020 18:50

Can you install the Kindle app on your phone?

Lurleene · 07/04/2020 18:50

Most libraries have ebooks and you don't need a kindle, you can read them on your phone. Just log on to your library website to see.

Download the BorrowBox and Kindle apps on your phone.
BorrowBox is free and Kindle has some really cheap books

Some communities and supermarkets do book swaps....could you look on your local Facebook groups?

Draculahhh · 07/04/2020 19:13

Download the kindle app on your phone. Kindle unlimited is actually free for 3 months at the moment too.

If you have friends locally who you know genuinely go out for exercise, you could ask them if they've any books you can borrow. If so, ask them to leave them on your doorself. Obviously wash hands after and leave a few days before touching again, just in case!

If you are on facebook you could see if there is a local group to support with Covid. You could ask if anyone has any books to give away.
There are loads of people leaving them out on the doorstep around here. The local food banks have also had some donated.

Loads of public domain books here.

Yep Kindle on phone! I read all my books on my phone even though I have a Kindle because my phone is always with me so I can read a bit more wherever I am. It's great. Enjoy!

JKScot4 · 07/04/2020 19:27

I’m swapping books with friends from book club, wiped, in freezer bag, sealed and left on doorstep.

I also use the Libby & RBDigital apps to borrow library books / audiobooks / magazines from the library.

2020nymph · 07/04/2020 19:30

I read books from the library using the Cloud Library app, I also have the kindle app and BookBub has free or cheap deals on books.
