PA ‘friend’ bitching about me exercising

I have a mum friend in the village I live in. Not massively close friends with her but kids go to each other’s parties, we do the odd event together etc.

I’ve been taking dc’s out for a walk across the fields every day. We live in a very old village and our house is in the original part with no garden, just a courtyard that’s now our drive. Dc’s are young, we’ve been encouraged to go out, the fields are fallow this year so no issue of us stepping off the path to let other people pass with a 2 metre gap and we rarely see others anyway.

This woman lives in a mansion, acres of land, animals, could probably happily stay there for months without running out of things to do. She’s been posting on FB for days about fuckers going out of the house, how hard is it to understand that if you go out we’ll have to stay in lockdown forever, that she spotted 10 people today, what a bunch of fuckwits they are to think the rules don’t apply to them etc etc.

Now she’s posted this lovely rock for people to find. Quite a few people have been painting rocks with little messages on them for people to see on their walks. Not really my thing but if it keeps people busy and cheers others up then I thinks it’s all good.

Now I’m feeling completely watched every time I pass her house. I’m not doing anything wrong am I? Taking dc’s for a couple of mile walk once a day. I thought that’s what we were being encouraged to do.

As you pass her house blow her a kiss and wave

One woman on a local Fb site was irate about people out running/walking alone or with young children, perfectly within guidelines . The irony that she spotted these people while out for a walk herself didn't seem to have occurred to her.

I should think people like your friends were equally stupid before Covid-19, but this has amplified it.

I would put my life on it that this daft woman is on mumsnet on one of those threads criticising anyone who so much farts during this crisis

@Bringringbring12
My partner and I would definitely be in trouble then.
Our casseroles have been heavily lentil based since “ lockdown “

Yep they’d pull you up in that

Corona could be passed through smelly vapour, don’t you know?

Surely touching a stone and leaving the contaminated stone for multiple people to pick up is a really stupid thing to do?

Paint another one saying "[Her name] if you are reading this you are not following your own advice and are a fucking hypocrite".

She went out of the house to leave it there in the first place, so isn't following her own advice. I di chuckle when I see these "stay at home" signs outside of someone's home.

No doubt she'll pop out again to see if anyone has moved her rock and she will find your one.

I am tempted to start putting signs up about town now saying "if you are reading this, you are exercising and keeping yourself well in this shitstorm, which is not against the law, well done". But I have a job to do, kids to teach, a house to keep, and thank fuck no instagram or facebook to pretend to be morally superior on. I have no time for this competitive hero complex crap.

Give her the middle finger wave as you pass later 🤣🤣

Yes govenment guidelines do allow for you to go out and exercise

But

2-3 weeks ago parliment was still allowed to meet and our PM still shaking peoples hand.

Now hes in hospital and infected goodness knows how many other people because we were slow are putting the right measures in place.

Just because the government allows exercise out the house doesn't mean its right.

Im not surprised there's a backlash.

If you are on a footpath, smile and wave. If you are walking round the edge of a field that has a footpath vaguely in the vicinity then she may have a point...

If she's whingeing about people outside her property, who don't have acres to roam in,
then she's a modern bloody Marie Antionette lecturing the peasants

That won't go well

(I admit if I had a footpath through my property, I'd be very anxious about people & dogs using it,
particularly since few people stick strictly to the path)

Wow, what a coincidence. I was just looking at that picture on Facebook a few minutes ago and it turns up here! But now someone actually knows where it is and who painted it and there's a backstory and everything. Who'd have thought it? Hmm

You're doing nothing wrong but does has she’s really been posting on FB for days about' fuckers going out of the house' ? I would have thought that sort of language wasn't allowed.

She is stalking. It really is that simple - anyone watching what other people get up to in this way is stalking and breaking the law.

I would speak to the police about it.

If this is a true story: it’s “get orf my land, peasants”, isn’t it? She has managed to repurpose the Coronavirus crisis as a means of getting the serfs to stay away from the Manor House. Time for a local version of the Kinder Scout trespass in your area, I reckon!

Silly woman. Do you have a local PCSO who could ring her up and tell her to stop being silly?

Youre not encouraged to go out for anything-youre allowed your exercise though

Can you just post on her fb ‘the peasants are revolting’ Grin

She’s a mega twat.

You are not doing anything wrong. My local community Facebook pages are rife with local people shaming, policing other’s behaviour and spouting the wrong information. Yesterday reached a new low with teenage girls being labelled slags and village bicycles. All perfectly acceptable as a group of teenagers were supposedly walking around.
Many seem happy to preach all manner of crap whilst weeks ago it was #bekind.

bishybarnybee other posters have already said that they’ve seen it elsewhere. I didn’t realise it was just a screenshot, I thought she’d actually painted it. I’ve commented on that, along with other people. Maybe just read the very short thread before with your hmm emoji. God, I swear this lockdown is turning everyone so bloody sarky.
