Do you think they're all going to their second homes?

Dr Calderwood was spectacularly stupid but in the context of knowing that senior politicians are doing it too perhaps it didn't seem so at the time?

Did a journalist pick on a female target deliberately, when there are plenty of others, as has been suggested? Or did he/she learn that the CMO was the only one flouting her own rules, or one of many but perhaps the most important, as they are her rules?

Matt Hancock and Jenny Harries were asked yesterday if they have second homes they have visited during the crisis. Hancock ended the press conference at that point and neither answered the question. Because he was trying not to get involved in a Scotish matter or because he was scared of the answer? I'd expect politicians of all colours will be facing that question in the coming days.

Was the journalist wrong to follow her and her family or doing exactly what journalists should do by holding these people to account?

I think it is likely that someone (a neighbour etc.) has contacted the press about her going to her second home. Either that or the press are keeping tabs on all senior people to see who they can 'catch out'.

Either way she deserved to be caught out and to be forced to resign - it was spectacular stupidity on her part.

I would be very surprised if she is the only one doing it though.

Matt Hancock really messed the ending of that question up, imo. His response alone makes me suspicious that he does have two properties and has been moving between them.

I do think, actually it was because he didn't want Dr Harries to have to answer a question about her Scottish counterpart and be accused of interfering by the SNP but it was a very abrupt end to the press conference

I bet the second homes of politicians are going to be under constant scrutiny by the press and neighbours now. And TBH I have little sympathy for anyone who's caught. Unless they can prove they moved prior to / at the start & are isolating away from other family members for a good & specific reason, no-one should be using second homes. They are almost always in more rural communities, with less healthcare provision & longer wait times for ambulances. It's just selfish & short-sighted, as if someone does get the virus we don't have somewhere like those massive hospitals they're building to ease the pressure. Last days, in a worst case scenario, are likely to be more unpleasant, with a longer ride to hospital - if a bed can be found at all.

It was a stupid question in my opinion and a waste of a question.

It was clear that Hancock could not answer it .

I doubt he's had the time to go to his 2nd home.
