Delicate question re children in hospital

I know that COVID patients in hospital aren’t allowed any visitors, even in end of life situations. But does that extend to children? Surely a small child would require so much nursing / HCA support that they would be better allowing a parent to stay with them?

Sorry to ask, but this is giving me nightmares!

Is child defined as under 16 or under 18?

I have heard that children is being interpreted to mean anyone under 18.
