If you think you've had it, did others in household get it?

Just wondering how much this is caught or not caught by living at close quarters with others. I have heard some say household transmission is a given, others say it is quite low. But then also others in the household might be getting it but not showing symptoms.

I think me and my eldest son have had it over the past couple weeks, mine started as a persistent sore throat, then I had a temperature and headache for couple days, dry cough and tight chest and swollen lymph nodes in my neck. Lasted nearly two weeks l'm only just getting over it now, still get chest tightness and cough but thats about it, my eldest son who is 13 has had a sore throat, cough and conjunctivitis in his eye which he has never had before. My other 3 kids who are 9 and 4 (twins) dont seem to have it but over the past few months they have had viruses that have bot been explained, in fact my 4 year old son was very poorly just before Christmas at one point he was panting when breathing which scared me so much, my mom and husband also had similar symptoms around then too.

In February dd3 had a raging temperature, headache, wiped out ,metal taste and at the end a dry cough.
This was when it was only supposed to be in China but her friend had just come back from Italy.
Dh and I were definitely under the weather after her but nothing major and dd1 who was recovering from major surgery had no symptoms.I'm sure dd3 had it .

Pretty sure I’ve just come down with it over the last 2-3 days. Straight onto the lungs with a slight wheeze, no nasal congestion, no headache/fever just a dry tickly cough so far.

Decided it would just be too impractical to self isolate (OH has a physical disability) so if the family catch it, they catch it :/

I had all the symptoms temperature cough, that then turned onto pneumonia this was is January and no one else in the house caught it so possible just a different viruse but strange that the symptoms were the same.

willdoitinaminute · 02/04/2020 23:07

I came down with CV symptoms, DH was 2 days behind. He had same symptoms but obviously much worse. DS had very mild symptoms almost asymptomatic. DS never suffers with colds or virus, fit as a butchers dog to be fare.
As I am a dentist may well have been early case of CV (mid February) it’s no coincidence that they have shut all dentistry down. Apparently they realised rather too late that we were ultra high risk. There are at least two dentists in critical care probably more.

Everyone our house has it (or a -like virus). Mild symptoms so far though mine gradually worsening.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 02/04/2020 23:14

I have it, currently Day 12 and improving daily but still have a persistent headache and fatigue. Went for an easy walk today - 1st time in a couple of weeks really and felt quite breathless . Dh has it now, has had temp, headache feels rough. He is high risk so praying he doesn't get worse. Dd (10) vomited once, had high temp for 24 hours and other than being a little more tired than usual is fine. My adult dd says she has cold feet which is apparently a rare sign but is otherwise just tired.

HarrietThePi · 02/04/2020 23:15

All 3 in our house have been ill with what may have been a mild case of it, but without testing we just don't know. Whatever we had, we all had it.

Thanks Ink

I have a throat like razor blades, high temp and bit of a cough now. Hoping it's something else or I get off lightly. On another thread somebody's certain they've had it for 45 days!! Shock

TrudysTerribleFringe · 02/04/2020 23:18

I started with a sore throat on the Sunday, which became a cough which got worse gradually untill I the following Saturday I made myself sick coughing as it was relentless. No fever.

That same week DD had a very mild occasional cough.

DS Vomited and was hot on the Tuesday night, no other symptoms but he is 7 and apparently it can present that way in children.

Older DS started coughing on the Friday and it cleared up by about Wednesday.

No idea if it was IT but it seems likely.

I think I’ve had it. I was recovering from an operation so initially put the exhaustion, lack of appetite and generally feeling rotten down to the general anaesthetic and pain I was in. This stage lasted Tuesday night to Sunday night. Monday morning I felt fine. Thought, great I’m better. Monday night I developed
a dry cough and breathlessness. I initially thought I had a chest infection. Realised there was nothing to cough up, so not normal. This lasted until Friday. Cough was so dry water wouldn’t help it, had to drink things like smoothies or a spoonful of yoghurt to ease the cough which made the very back of my throat feel like sandpaper.
My husband was with me both weekends, but was away with work during each week so not with me often, but he didn’t get it.
This was early February, I’ve only just realised it was possibly CV.

Not sure if I have:

Started with cold like symptoms, then dry cough, then fever one night, temperature on and off for days, fatigue, lost sense of smell but eating normally , chest pain but not difficulty breathing but out of breath walking upstairs..I have had sore throat every single day and 14 days later it is still persisting...
