My mum has COPD pretty serve but she hasn't been to her doctors about it for a year as she just orders inhalers and manages ok with the constant long term chest infections she gets.
She has not received a shielding letter so she emailed her GP surgery on Monday to ask if she is due a letter. Reply back was if she has not received one from the government then she's not on the shielding list. Is the GP surgery able to check if she should of had one? After seeing in the news about dead people getting the letter I'm concerned.
She works in a mini supermarket and is having to use holiday at the moment to isolate (she has a cough from before this all started) if she doesn't get the letter she would be told to go back to work. If she gets this she would have a very high chance of ending up in hospital and dying (62yrs old with COPD) I have said worst case she quits but will unlikely find another job again until she can claim retirement so my family would need to financially support her.
I'm a bit lost and confused on what I can do to protect my mum. She was on the original list (flu jab for free) of people who should sled isolate for 12 weeks but not the updated one!!
