Anyone not received shielding letter that should of?

My mum has COPD pretty serve but she hasn't been to her doctors about it for a year as she just orders inhalers and manages ok with the constant long term chest infections she gets.

She has not received a shielding letter so she emailed her GP surgery on Monday to ask if she is due a letter. Reply back was if she has not received one from the government then she's not on the shielding list. Is the GP surgery able to check if she should of had one? After seeing in the news about dead people getting the letter I'm concerned.

She works in a mini supermarket and is having to use holiday at the moment to isolate (she has a cough from before this all started) if she doesn't get the letter she would be told to go back to work. If she gets this she would have a very high chance of ending up in hospital and dying (62yrs old with COPD) I have said worst case she quits but will unlikely find another job again until she can claim retirement so my family would need to financially support her.

I'm a bit lost and confused on what I can do to protect my mum. She was on the original list (flu jab for free) of people who should sled isolate for 12 weeks but not the updated one!!

I didn’t receive one but meet the criteria on the list. I registered on the gov website last week and yesterday received a text telling me that the NHS will look into my case.

The link to register is here:
www.gov.uk/coronavirus-extremely-vulnerable

Apparently they used a computer algorithm on NHS data to identify 900,000 people likely to be extremely vulnerable and these are the one who were sent letters. It is expected that there are around 600,000 people not identified by the algorithm whose cases need to be checked manually. You can start this process by registering on the website.

Thanks for your reply. I have signed her up to the website already that you listed but without that letter her work will try and force her to work when she really shouldn't be.

I haven't received anything and I'm getting worried. Lockdown happened on the same day I was diagnosed with cancer. I'm wondering if I'm even in the system yet. My chemo starts on Tuesday.

My Mum (in 70s) has been going shopping (she shouldn't) but once chemo starts she can't risk it either. I don't know how to get an online shop as I can't get beyond the front page which says no deliveries and they're waiting for the list from Government

I only got one on Monday from my consultant team then yesterday I got one from the GP. I think it's just taking time to get them all out

Hello has anyone from this thread (or elsewhere) who never received a shielding letter now had one saying they no longer need to shield?
