Anyone else worry about transmission from gifts left for others?

I’m seeing lots of FB posts about people leaving gifts of food, children’s colouring packs, sweets etc on each others doorsteps. I get that it’s a nice idea for the children but surely all these little acts of kindness are all potential ways that the virus will enter your home.
I understand that the elderly and vulnerable have to rely on food deliveries and shopping left on doorsteps but this would be considered essential.
Leaving chocolate treats, crayons and the like on each other’s doorsteps isn’t essential and it’s all a risk that people should really not be taking.
Am I being a killjoy?

Surely you could wipe over anything you receive, with a cloth ?
Then, to be sure, wash your hands thoroughly after touching whatever the gift is.

Leave on the door step for a few hours before bringing in.
