Did anyone receive a ‘highly vulnerable’ text but no letter?

If so, should they contact their GP?

Seems a little odd to receive the highly vulnerable text but no letter and now I am worried they have fallen through the cracks Confused

I know someone who should 100% be on the shielding list but haven't received a text or letter. It will almost likely kill them if they get it but they seem to have fallen through the cracks.

Certainly not likely.

And yes I've advised them to speak to the Gp.

I've had the text too, did it mention supermarket slots?

I think it's for those who registered online as vulnerable

HigherFinish · 01/04/2020 12:55

The text was sent over a week ago. It told the person that they were one of the 1.5mn extremely vulnerable and that they should self isolate at home and be shielded for 12 weeks.

However, no letter has been received!

Took my 10 days after the text to get the letter so may still come

Wingedharpy · 01/04/2020 13:00

I got text today as I had registered on extremely vulnerable list as per Guidance on shielding....document.

I did this as soon as that document came out, so, didn't have a letter - and still don't.

Text does say, words to the effect that, as you haven't has a letter, we'll share your details with the NHS.

"If the NHS defines you as clinically extremely vulnerable, the NHS will contact you. Your GP will be informed".

"If you told us you need help getting food.....we'll share your details with supermarkets. They may be able to help".

HigherFinish · 01/04/2020 13:11

Wingedharpy, yes, that is the third tranche of texts that have been sent out.

  1. To extremely vulnerable people, saying self isolate and shield for 12 weeks. Should have been followed up by a letter.
  1. To the whole population, saying New rules are now in force and you must stay at home.
  1. To people who registered on the Gov website as extremely vulnerable, saying that their details will be shared with the NHS.

I’m asking about those who got the first text but did not get a letter. Thanks Pumpkin, fingers crossed.

I am in the 12 week shielding group and am expecting a letter.

I'm not sure what's in the letter though that is any different to the guidance document.

StillSmallVoice · 01/04/2020 14:24

I have had the same text as Wingedharpy. I haven't had a letter, but had a phone consultation with the GP on another matter at the beginning of last year week and he was absolutely clear that I should be shielding (immunosupressed). He said that they had done a sweep of various databases and I should have been flagged, but for some reason wasn't.

I don't know whether that means I will get a letter. I'm not sure that it makes a lot of difference, as I have people who can help with shopping.

I didn't get the text but I did get the letter
