Wow. I'm amazed R4 felt able to say that. It's like there's actually some biological reality to the word.

Sure that proves nothing. BBC uses the word ‘gender’ so there’s an obvious way for males to stay safer, they just have to identify as the other ‘gender’. I’m sure that’ll protect them. I’m away to phone my adult sons and tell them how to keep safe.

As an aside, who knew that COVID19 was such a bigot?!

Women also get more autoimmune conditions, so there's a downside as well.

COVID is definitely a bigot
It is sexist by killing twice as many men as women
It is ageist by killing mostly elderly people

I haven't heard that one yet as I'm way behind with my podcasts, as I normally listen to them in the car and of course I'm not driving anywhere at the moment - a little annoyance of this whole situation, but you would have thought that they would know that gender is not a synonym for sex when talking about biological differences between the sexes.

Wow. I'll need to tell my hubby to identify as a women to reduce his risk of dying from COVID by half.
