Advice on 80% grant for employee wages

Hi, im wondering if anyone could help with the below please?

My sister is weekly paid and works for a company who have advised she will be paid the 80% but only when it becomes available (looking at gov website this is end of April) as the business cant afford to pay their employees after this week. The company has said it is not looking at a business interruption loan so basically she will not be paid for what could be the best of 6 weeks.

Does anyone know if she will be back paid when this money becomes available or can the company only claim back if they are paying her in the mean time?

Thank you

Payment should cover anyone who has been furloughed since 1 march to end may. Its a 3 month scheme, so they can claim from date she was furloughed.

It can be backdated to 01.03.20 so once the system is up and running her company can claim from the first day she stopped working.

So yes, she will get the 80% owed to her. Shame her company aren’t taking any further steps to help their staff

@esjee @DazzlingDee Thank you both for replying!

I know shame on them, she isnt too bothered if she does the 80% all back dated as she does have savings that she can use in the mean time but she is pregnant and her savings are to help while she is on maternity leave as she only gets SMP then😩

Its an absolute nightmare!
