This is something I have been wondering. Does anybody know if they are testing for Coronavirus or are they able to test specifically for the covid 19 strain?

Covid-19

There are different strains of coronovirus but there isnt a 'kids one' !

Kids get covid 19 just usually have milder symptoms than adults.

Testing now mostly takes place in hospital. People in intensive care units and those with respiratory illness, especially if it is pneumonia, will get tested for Covid-19. When there is a cluster of infections, such as an outbreak in a care home, those people will also be tested.

Why would they test for any other virus when there isnt enough testing available for nhs workers to be tested for covid19 when they are dealing with this on a daily basis?

I’d seen some comments knocking around saying they only test for Coronavirus, not specifically covid 19. I didn’t think it was right, but struggled to find any information on it to confirm. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

🤣🤣🤣
I wondered where you got the idea of a kid specific strain from.

They will be testing for this new strain. There are so many other coronaviruses.

Corona is a large group of viruses. I read that it was first categorised in the 1960s.

Covid 19 is a very new addition to the group. It is the specific one being tested for.
