Shielding/highly vulnerable group and delivery slots

OrganTransplant123 · 31/03/2020 09:47

Has anyone who has had the letter/text advising them to shield for 12 weeks and registered on the .gov website managed to get a priority delivery slot?

Sainsbury’s don’t answer the phone and on Twitter just tell people to register on the .gov website.

A local cafe is doing limited groceries but we can’t get everything we need. It’s making a stressful situation even more stressful.

I am not on the vulnerable list but I have managed to get a slot with Sainsburys by checking multiple times a day and they do suddenly release some. You do have to be on it though. We have a delivery pass with them though so maybe they are releasing a small number to delivery pass holders.

I’ve called Sainsbury’s myself today as I’ve not been recognised it’s my daughter who has been so I called to see if I can do it on her behalf but as you say they don’t answer just say they are too busy and to call back. Don’t even put you on hold

I am on the extremely vulnerable list and registered on the website, but I haven’t been contacted and it hasn’t made it any easier to get deliveries.

I have managed to get a delivery yesterday from Ocado (booked weeks ago and fortunately not cancelled) and another for 9th April, but that was because I have an Ocado smartpass and luckily got the email for that, not because I am vulnerable which seems to make no difference with Ocado.

We are rationing fresh food to make sure it lasts til the next delivery. I don’t usually only buy food every ten days so this was hard to plan, but should be manageable, just slightly less fresh stuff than usual because it doesn’t last that long.

Hopefully I will be able to get another delivery a week or so later on.

Can you try Amazon Pantry? They also do Prime Now in certain cities & this is really good but you do need to keep refreshing to get a delivery slot.
Otherwise I'd suggest trying for slots at midnight. I think Iceland release them at midday but not certain about this.

Thanks for the replies. It’s so frustrating. We’re also trying to ration food which is shit when you have a chronic condition that makes you lose weight easily.

We’re rural so Amazon are no good sadly. Even Morrisons won’t deliver here!

I’ve too tried to ring Sainsbury’s. It’s so frustrating that they get the long message and then cut you off.

Have you tried Iceland if they deliver to you? A relative in the shielded group has managed to get 2 deliveries recently from them - they do fresh as well as frozen
