UK holiday booked in late July

What’s the likelihood of us being able to go? In all honesty?
Obviously it’s not abroad as it’s in UK so no flying involved.

I’m having the same thoughts as we’re booked to go to Butlin’s the first week of summer. I’ve only paid the deposit at the minute, but the balance is due in May and I’m just not sure whether to pay it and hope they cancel or let me rebook, or whether to forfeit my deposit and make the decision not to go. I really can’t see things being back to normal by then.

Even if we are out of lockdown, which we should be hopefully, SD will still apply I expect, I don’t think life will be back to normal by then sadly OP. I hope I am wrong.

What does social distancing in that case involve exactly? I mean will I still be able to drive and visit my parents if we’re out of lockdown by then, but still social distancing?

I'm thinking same, only mine is first week of July. If we're out of lockdown surely a uk break will be ok by then. Mine is a lodge with family so I'm crossing my fingers. I think places like butlins might still be closed. I really don't know though

I'm in the same boat. We've booked self catering in Yorkshire for July, only paid £50 deposit so far and balance due in a few weeks. I'm hedging my bets to see how it goes, if things are in any way back to normal with restaurants and shops etc being open again then we'll go but if things are still pretty similar to the current situation I think I'll cancel or postpone if the company will let us move the deposit over to another date. No point going if we're just going to be stuck in the accommodation and cooking every night, I could do that at home without having to pay a fortune for the cattery.

Zero chance

SpillTheTeaa · 30/03/2020 18:21

I don't think you'll be going.

CathyandHeathcliff · 30/03/2020 20:28

I’ll just wait and see I guess. Nearer the time.

I've got a fortnight in Turkey booked for the first two weeks of July. Plus concert tickets in Paris mid June. Just waiting for the cancellation emails really, although the holiday wasn't a package deal so there's flights, transfers, accomodation and villa to sort out :( I reckon your UK late july might possibly be feasible though x

I would rather go to my cottage booked in wales if allowed and walk my kids through a different part of the world a change of scenery would be amazing by that point and my cottage has a pool table for the kids. God I hope we can go.
