Is this a lovely act of kindness, or have I got someone else’s delivery?!

I’ve just had a new washing machine delivered (yes, the old one picked such a convenient time to die), and obviously the delivery drivers have just had to drop if off in the front garden instead of entering the property for safety.

I nipped inside to put proper shoes on to lug it in, and when I come back to the door a moment later, a loaf of bread and a glass bottle each of juice and milk have been left on my doorstep. Looked up and down my cul-de-sac, but there’s nobody around.

The glass bottles have Milk&More tops, and the loaf is Hovis. I’ve never had a milkman before, is this not a bit late in the day to be delivering? Do they stock Hovis brand loaves, or is it more home-baked stuff? I can’t even access the website to check, as there’s a Queue It to get on!

Just trying to figure out if I’ve accidentally been given a neighbour’s delivery?! Or is there some kind soul who’s dropped off an anonymous gift to us?

Sounds like a mistake I’d check with neighbours

I’m writing notes to put through the neighbours’ doors!

It’s very odd. There’s no delivery note or anything. Does a note usually come with a milkman delivery?

My milkman just leaves the stuff, no note. Unless it's billing day.

I use milk and more and never get a delivery note, it is all done online.

We only have the option of Kingsmill bread or bakery loaves, however what is offered might vary regionally.

I would guess this is a wrong address delivery.

Thanks for the info re: delivery notes. Like I said, I’ve never had a milkman delivery before, and I can’t even check the website for what the normal protocol is.

I’ve nipped round and put a note in each of my neighbours’ doors, asking if they were expecting a Milk&More delivery, and if so to ask at House XXX.

I’m so annoyed at myself for going back in to put other shoes on before lugging the washing machine in, otherwise I could have seen if it was a delivery, and put them in the right direction!
